Guest guest
Hi everybody, has an appt. with Dr. Barshop in San Diego on July 27th. He is Dr. Haas' partner. Anybody see him? Is he forthright about treatment, prognosis, development? We have seen Schoffner, whom I liked much, but who was rather guarded in his opinions. is one of those kids who is mostly stable from a medical standpoint, but doesn't exactly appear to be thriving either--for example, he weighs only 29 pounds and is turning 5 in 2 weeks. In constrast, my normal son is only 2 years 10 months older and weighs 80 pounds. This causes us to feel in limbo much of the time. Thanks for your opinions. Lori and , complex I and IV, almost 5! Guest guest
A friend took his son who has Leigh's to Dr. Haas and Dr. Barshop, and were VERY pleased! They were both great and were extremely generous with their time and explanations -- as was the entire staff -- and did not duck any questions! We would HIGHLY recommend the entire situation -- Doctors, staff, and hospital!! Sue Dr. Barshop Hi everybody, has an appt. with Dr. Barshop in San Diego on July 27th. He is Dr. Haas' partner. Guest guest
Lori, Bruce Barshop is an angel. He cared for my late daughter over 17 years ago, and diagnosed me. He's been instrumental in getting me appropriate treatment, and when I moved east, got me hooked up with doctors in my area to continue my treatment. He's consistently gone above and beyond to provide support and excellent care. He's been 100% upfront and honest with me at all times. Despite having another baby (against his advice), he was instrumental in keeping me (and my now 16 year old daughter) alive through a difficult pregnancy. He never withheld information or advice from me, which I appreciated very much. He worked seamlessly with the rest of my medical team, and was always available to me for consultation. Someday, when I move back to southern California, I hope to be Dr. Barshop's patient again. Theresa > Hi everybody, has an appt. with Dr. Barshop in San Diego on July 27th. He is Dr. Haas' partner. Guest guest
Lori, Dr. Barshop is great. Although he has never been Connor's "primary" physician at UCSD, he has been involved over the past 8 years. One time, Connor was in the hospital for a followup and for some reason, wanted to see Dr. Barshop just to say hi. Well, he came to the hospital to see Connor even though he had no other patients to see that day! He is just a special person, as are Dr. Haas and especially Dr. Naviaux (he is our angel). I am confident you will be comfortable and pleased there. Let us know how it goes, mary b Connor's mom - 10 years old - COX/Leigh's Dr. Barshop Hi everybody, has an appt. with Dr. Barshop in San Diego on July 27th. He is Dr. Haas' partner. Anybody see him? Guest guest
Cool! Thanks for the info. I look forward to our appt. and will be sure to let the list know what information I gather from Barshop. Ah Southern California . . . .well, it's taken me a full year to adjust--it's very different from Chicago where I lived 11 years and the East Coast where I was raised. But, it is incredibly beautiful here and it grows on you fast. Hope you get back soon if that's what will make you happy. Take care and thanks again, Lori and , complex I and IV, almost 5! Guest guest
Hi Lori, Dr. Barshop has been truely our savior with my daughter Maggie, she was diagnosed 2 years ago with Leigh's and we fought with our doc's here in northern cali to go to UCSD. Once we got there we were utterly amazed with how Dr. Barshop and his nurse Jan Panyard took care of us and was completely upfront with everything. We now no longer have to go to UCSD for check ups but we keep in touch via email all the time and he answer's his own emails and I find that fantastic. Good luck I hope you like him as much as we do.
