Gwen,

I discussed the option with Dr. Herron during my last visit. I had

heard the nurses/aides were helpful to many and sought his opinion. I

have difficulty with many day to day activities at my weight, thus I

know immediate post op ambulation will be a challenge.

My insurance company requires prior approval (for a private nurse) so

Dr. H. hand wrote a note on his office note pad. It wasn't a big

deal. I thought I would need the note in order to get the

pre-approval, so the nurse would accept my insurance but it seems that

the regular course of business (at Mt. Sinai) is to get reimbursed.

Even so, my insurance still requires that they give the " ok " before

services are rendered if there is any hope of being reimbursed.

I am sure if you discuss the option with Dr. H. he will give you his

opinion on the necessity in your own situation.

I read 's post where she indicated you have to go to the office

in person and she is correct. She is also correct in that you can do

it the day of surgery, etc. Personally I will decide prior as I don't

want to have go looking for the office when I am struggling with

everything else.

Thanks all for your replies :)

Sondra

write me a letter also. Can you call from your room if you haven't

made arrangements prior to surgery?
