Guest guest
Well it is pretty warm outside today, about 85. Although I have been warned countless times about the heat, I decided to let Gracie out for a little bit. We do take her out in this weather, but it is always straight into the pool. I figured that I would be washing my car, and she would be wet so she should be fine, WRONG. For the first 10-15 min or so she was fine, and drinking like she is supposed too. After about 20 min she started getting red, and wanted to go inside. I left the hose out and all and quickly got her in the AC. I gave her a cool drink, and just for mind set I took her temp. The first reading was a little over 100, I was not too concerned as we just got in. Well it has been a few hours now and she is still hot. I just took her temp and she is up to 102+. She is very weak and will not walk more than a few feet at a time. Actually, she has now just dosed off on the couch. Hopefully once she wakes up she will feel better. I am so mad at myself for taking her out. Although it is really not fair that a child cannot go outside. She is on the list for Moody to get a cooling vest, but we don't know how much longer it will be. Our local MDA is going to find a way to pay for it through Moody, but the foundation has not answered my emails and phonecalls requesting a quote so MDA can send a check. I am just frustrated today. I guess to top it all off, we were supposed to go to a local fair tonight and let the kids ride some rides and see fireworks. Unless she makes some miraculous recovery, I think I am going to have some dissapointed kids tonight. Well that is my vent for the day. Hopefully she will wake up fine. Any good thoughts and prayers are always welcome. ,Mommy to (9), (7), Bre-Anne (6), Grace (2) and our newest arrival is due Sept. 20thFor the latest baby info, and to see our family check out:www.BabyCountDown.com?baby=4007
Guest guest
Don’t beat yourself up. It’s so hard for us to find a balance between protecting our kids from Mito and letting them live a little while they can. What kind of life would we have if we couldn’t go outside at all? Sue did a dumb thing, now I'm worried Well it is pretty warm outside today, about 85. Although I have been warned countless times about the heat, I decided to let Gracie out for a little bit. Guest guest
, It is so hard to walk the line between a good life with fun things and trying to protect them. We want them to live and sometimes we deal with bad outcomes. We all have done it. We all have had to cancel the family outing because a medical situation pops up. I am sorry that Grace feels so bad. Does she have a gtube? If so I would give extra pedialyte. Don't beat yourself up. She'll be okay! Let us know... Dawn
