Question for Richmond Patients (especially very newly post-op)

Ok, as I am approaching my goal I have a few questions, well one mainly. How close do I have to be before they will schedule surgery? I had my surgical consult with Dr. Fisher on 9/9/05. I had 13.5 lbs. to lose. He said when I got to goal to come in for a weight check and then they would take it from there. I had planned to go to Richmond on 10/7/05 just to see where I was. Well today, my son had an eye dr. appt. in ez, so I couldnt help but stop by a dr. office and check my weight (health ed was closed :-( ) and now I am down 5 lbs. from there so only 8.5 lbs. to go.

If I remember correctly, I think someone said that they will schedule surgery once you get within 5 lbs. of goal with the condition that you are at or below goal by surgery day. Is that true? Could I really be only 3.5 lbs. away from a date?

You actually have to be at goal before Richmond will go any further.

You go in for a weight check and then they set up your appointment

with your case manager. Your case manager will give you a surgery date

at that meeting and set you up for your pre-op class, etc.

You'll be there in no time! Good luck and keep up the good work.

Sorry, Barb...Richmond used to schedule when you were five lbs. away...now they want you to call when you are actually AT goal. But, hey, you are really close, so that's great!!!
