we have profuse nosebleeds too...even had to be transported to the hospital and it looked like someone had been shot in our house...it was everywhere!

anyway, the drs there had us hold the bottom of the nose (the soft flares) and pinch it for five or ten minutes with a timer...you can't let go, which of course had a hard time letting us do it that long...but it works...and it was the only thing that did. When we let go we would use vaseline in the nose too to stop it from starting again. By the way. thier head it held upright like when he is sitting...

hope that helps!

For the bloodynose, my daughter has them quite frequently. One of the veins in her nose is very close to the skin. When the air is dry these happen more frequently. We use vasaline and that generally stops them pretty quick

I was wondering if any of you have experianced a worsening in vomiting when the heat rises up. It seems the more he is outside or riding for long trips to KU his vomiting gets worse. The drs are setting him up for another upper GI and going to do another Barrium swallow test. Also have any of you dealt with severe bloody noses in your mito kids? Logan has them at least 10 times a day and they last betwwen 15 and 30 min. We have tried everything from a vaporizer to a humidifier and nasal sprays galore, but nothing seems to work the drs are doing a ct scan turs on his sinuses. I was just wondering if any of you or your children dealing with a mitochondrial disease have had this side effect?Again it seems the longer Logan is exposed to the heat the more side effects we are having. He can only stay outside for a maximum of 20 min before a seizure or any of these other two things kick in. Do you guys ever have to deal with this? If so any ideas on how to make his summer fun without having to take away the things he likes? I wouldappreciate any help . Thank you Jennie mito mom of LoganPlease contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
