Good idea, except I would leave out all the bell peppers, which he's

allergic to, also! What else could I add? Maybe garlic and/or ginger?

I love ginger in everything.

I love all your ideas, though, and thanks for setting the record straight

re the possible wheat derivation of maltodextrin, as per '

book. Whoever had the post a while back saying that we should call each

manufacturer to verify source on this one is probably right.

speaking of " fresh squished garlic " , would that pre-minced stuff in the

jar be ok? My meal prep time is soooooooo limited with four kids under

8!

It should work just as well, its just that LJ stays away from soy and

McCormicks minced garlic is in soybean oil.

Whenever you want to... but if you are being cautious, introduce your

spices similar to introducing new foods. Some folks have trouble, for

instance, with black pepper, yet Elaine never set a limitation on

pepper.

Me, I started making Cajun and Creole spice mixes right off. Oddly, I

never had a problem with homemade spice mixtures. But then again, we've

already established that one should not make the mistakes I

did....
