Guest guest
I'm wondering two things- 1. Has anyone here who has been diagnosed with a severe case of IBD been able to get into remission with SCD? I wonder, because my GI said that my Crohn's in my colon was moderate, but my extraintestinal symptoms were sever. Does SCD work in severe cases and without medication? 2. Does anyone have experience with getting off Remicade- if it worked for you- and then just doing the SCD and staying in remission? If so, I'd love to hear your story. I'm wondering how I will know if the diet is working for me or if it's just the Remicade, in case I decide to try and get off my medications. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi Amber, I have Crohn’s, symptoms manifested 21 years ago. I was finally dx’d in 2001 and my GI at the time told me I was one of the worst cases he’d ever seen…I did the standard medical treatment for 3 years, was hospitalized 2 times in those 3 years due to the Crohn’s. I nearly died after my GI prescribed the immune-suppressant 6-MP, I had such a bad reaction to it. By the time I found the SCD I was having 15-20 bloody bm’s (D)/day. I was a emaciated, dehydrated wreck. The SCD saved my life. After the standard medical treatment failed to alleviate symptoms, I found relief from cramping & pain right away on the SCD. I stopped taking meds (weaned off prednisone & Pentasa) and adhered to the SCD fanatically. I understand that meds are necessary at times, and I recommend you discuss meds with your doc. So yes, I am positive the SCD can help you as well. As I said, SCD saved my life! And yes, SCD works for severe cases, like mine, and without meds (my choice, except for LDN). I have had very excellent results using Low Dose Naltrexone. It is a immune modulator, not a immune suppressant like Remicade. www.LowDoseNaltrexone.org Carol CD 21 yrs SCD 5 yrs B12 shots LDN cream (6 months) From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of fossil.color 1. Guest guest
Hi Carol, Thank you for sharing your story. I appreciate it, as I need a lot of inspiration right now as I'm just starting. Did your GI work with you on the LDN, or is that something you have done on your own? Thanks! Amber
Guest guest
Amber, I had to find a new doctor to prescribe me LDN. I lost my health insurance when I retired from my job. Which meant that I was out of the HMO and free to find a new (more enlightened) doc. Since I needed to find a new doc anyway, I chose one who is known to prescribe LDN. Changing to this doc was the best outcome for me. I can say with near certainty that neither my old PCP or GI would be open to prescribing LDN. If your doc(s) won’t prescribe LDN then you can email this person, Crystal, who keeps a list of docs who will prescribe LDN. Just let her know your state angelindisguiseldn@... Or, you can purchase 50 mg. tablets from AllDayChemist, without a prescription, & make your own with distilled water. I use the cream from CoastalCompounding.com LDN in conjunction with the SCD is a mutually beneficial treatment. I wish I had known about both years ago.
