Guest guest
Praise all that is Holy, I have found the source of my gassiness!!! I have been having the worst, most embarrassing gas in the evenings. I thought at first it was lactose intolerance, and after trying Lactaid & Dairy Care to no avail, I cut out milk and most other dairy products. When that didn't help, I researched and found out it could be a gluten intolerance. This was very depressing to me. I tried Beano to see if that would help, as was suggested, and it did nothing for me. I feared a future of either horrible, embarrasing gas, or having to do without bread & other flour products - both of which were equally unappealing to me! Then I started to notice that the gas would start an hour or so after I took my OsCal, and just increase throughout the evening, finally ending around bedtime or the time of my next BM. I *suspected* it was OsCal for awhile, then finally yesterday I just didn't take the OsCal. Guess what? No gas! I then went and saw my PCP today (for something else) and asked her while I was there if she knew of people having gassy trouble with OsCal and she said 'oh yes'. So I've made an appointment with my nutritionist for suggestions for other ways to get calcium. Maybe Oyster Shell Calcium and/ or increasing foods rich in calcium - just anything that may allow me to eliminate the OsCal 500+D. In the meantime, since I know what's causing the gas, I can just take my OsCal before I go to bed instead of in the afternoon so that I can resume my social life. LOL I hope this information helps someone. I know I wish I'd known about it months ago before some embarrassing evenings out. Take care and good luck to all my fellow switchers and potential switchers! -Sherry (Lake Marcel, WA) BPD/DS Feb. 2, 2001 self-pay 5'5 " / 328 pounds / 33 years old Lost 9 pounds in pre-op weight loss efforts Have lost 83 pounds since surgery!
