I just read this on Pecan Bread: " The intro diet should be done for two to three days, four to five days for those with diarrhea. Some people end up staying on the intro for weeks and wonder why they experience extreme fatigue etc..FIVE DAYS IS THE MAXIMUM. " I'm confused & need help, please.  I've been on the intro with just a few things thrown in (ripe banana, onion, butter & avacado) for about 13 days now.  No wonder I'm extremely fatigued but my problem is that I'm flaring bad since I started the diet.  I don't want to cheat and ruin all my hard work nor do I want to advanced too quickly and get even worse.

How do you advance off the intro & not get worse??Please help, I'm constantly tired & am barely getting my essentials done.~

Thirdly, what are your flare symptoms? If you are having D, eggs may be problematic - usually the white of the egg. Also, too much yogurt - youmight want to build up slowly. Also some people react to too many carrots. As for adding things in, sounds like you are already put some things in, though butter is onthe intro diet. Just add in some other food - like the applesauce, or pureed spinach orzucchini, or butternut squash. Or coconut and olive oil (both of those are on intro.) Or cheese. As far as feeling fatigue, eat more - several meals throughout the day. Also, are youeating meat or fish - like steaks, or chicken or broiled fish for protein? Also, likelyyou will feel some fatigue in the initial stages, as the diet begins to work..Mara

This is my 4th week on SCD. I am pretty much on Stage 1/2 of the pecanbread. I

couldn't take eggs or spinach. I can take banana, green beans, avocado,

pearsauce.

I used to be very tired initially, but I am getting better. I eat a lot of the

same thing -- 1/4 lb sirloin, chicken soup and 1/2 lb fish.

There are some posts on having vegetable juices instead of pureed vegetables

etc, which might help. And in one post Marilyn said that when she started off,

she was on the same diet for 6 weeks (check recent posts).

I was also advised to keep adding things slowly even if I flare -- if its the

same and doesn't get worse.

Also, do you think some medication can help to control the flare? I increased my

5-ASA dose recently and that helped a great deal.

Hope you feel better.
