Guest guest
Re: the question about glutathione: 's child gets glutathione infusion and she is an excellent resource on it. My children get twice daily n-acetylcysteine (NAC) infusions and they have for the last 3 years. NAC is a precursor of glutathione so it is just intervening one step earlier. We use it because there is more experience in a children's hospital for using it than for using glutathione. NAC has been used for a long time for Tylenol over dose - it rescues the liver and that is why we initially started using it on a 2x/daily basis. It has improved /stabilized liver function for both of my boys. My littlest son needed a liver and other organ transplant transplant before starting it. he was not eligible for transplant due to the extensive multi system issues he has. We were told he would not see his next birthday. That was 3 years ago and his liver function is actually improved. For my oldest it has not improved his function but has stabilized it at a very mild dysfunctional level. From the research we have done it seems like it will only compliment the other anti-oxidants we give (Co Q, Vitamin E, Vit C, etc.) and therefore has the potential to slow or perhaps even halt disease progression. I am not sure I'd expect it to be a miracle and make mitochondria work perfectly but stabilization is good. I can't prove that the NAC has benefited my children and in fact my littlest continues to worsen each month....but on the other hand the doctors at our hospital marvel on a daily basis that he is even alive. So who knows...perhaps the NAC is one reason he continues to live life with joy. Annewww.caringbridge.org/wi/zachsam
