Guest guest
Hi, my name is Emma im from australia. My brother was diagnosed with UC a year ago. My parents and i thought he was doing ok (he's 30yo and lives away from us) untill he told us his specialist said he was to go on immuno-suppressants! I thought 'that doesnt sound right' i asked him about what his doctor thought about his diet and what changes he had to make, he answered that his doctor said that diet has nothing to do with it. At this stage alarm bells were ringing loud and clear for me! I didnt know anything about UC but i did know it was to do with his bowel and digestive tract and common sense told me it has a lot to do with diet, i simply couldnt beleive that diet didnt have an effect. I started researching and so did my mum. my mum came across a book in the library 'The Makers Diet' by Dr Jordan Rubin and promptly got him started on that diet. In the mean time i found Elaine Gottschall 'BTVC'. I have since recieved and read the book BTVC, it makes sense to me and i would like him to give it a go, accept he has already started with this other diet from Dr. Rubin. My question is; has anyone tried 'The Makers Diet'? (i think he has re-written it as 'Guts and Glory-Restoring your digestive health'?) How does 'the makers diet/guts and glory diet' compare in effectiveness to the 'SCDiet'?

(i think he has re-written it as 'Guts and Glory-Restoring your digestive health'?) Hi Emma, See this link about the Makers Diet. http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art35136.asp Jordan Rubin's dad originally worked with Elaine Gottschall and Jordan was helped by SCD. He then started his own business - to make money - but his diet is not effective. From Moss Greene's The "Art of Con" : But guys like Jordan Rubin leave a clear trail to follow and you’d be surprised what dirt turns up when you dig for the real facts. For the sake of saving time, money and possibly your life, let’s shine a searchlight on Jordan Rubin (of The Maker’s Diet and Garden of Life products.) This treacherous trail is dangerously overgrown with noxious weeds of deception, fatal fallacies and a mudslide of downright lies. Take care, Pat

You are absolutely right, in my opinion, that food affects the gut. Lots of us have been told by our doctors that what we eat has no effect... and we've found differently when we commit to SCD. The Maker's Diet is based on SCD. I haven't read the book -- just skimmed it in the bookstore because I'd already found SCD -- and I think it calls for lots of supplements, which are conveniently made by the company started by the author of " The Maker's Diet. " One of the things I always appreciated about SCD was that the only thing you needed to do SCD is food, and a yogurt maker. No ongoing supplements and all the rest to make it " work. Guest guest
Well, he was sued in Federal Court in Southern Florida for deceptive and false something or other. Google it. It's on-line. I remember when it was going on. The supplements which some are high grade soil and soooo expensive. I do know someone who lost over 100 pounds with them though. This was pre-SCD and her sister asked me about Jordan Rubin, said she had a neice with crohn's. She didn't but at least the sister lost a lot of weight--had 'all' the supplements. After I read about the lawsuit, I was glad I couldn't afford it.  OTOH, I know someone from the forums who has a brother who went into remission on the Maker's Diet. Not sure if he still does it now though.  Debbie 40 cd    My question is; has anyone tried 'The Makers Diet'? Guest guest
I have tried the Makers Diet and it did not work at all for me. Just my personal experience with it. There does not seem to be much science behind The Makers diet and yes they do require you to buy alot of their Garden of Life supplements. . Guest guest
Thanks everyone! I was sceptical from the beginning of Jordan Rubin, all your input has been very helpful! I will try to get my brother started on SCD straight away! Thanks again.
Guest guest
wow! ok!! obvously being all the way over here in australia i couldnt have known about the court case so thankyou so much for letting me know!! lucky we didnt buy any supplements either! basically my brother has just cut grains and sugar from his diet so far, he has been working so much that there has been little time to source all the new foods and supplements (and to properly research), however, he was heading down the makers diet road. thankgod for all the info u guys gave me! i was sure that the SCD was better anyway but my brother and mum were going for the maker's diet, now i can tell them with absolute certainty not to do it! SCD definately seems like the way to go. thank's everyone for ur input, greatly appreciated. > > > > > > > > > > > > > In a message dated 12/11/2009 5:42:46 AM Eastern Standard Time, > > emakj81@... writes: > > > > My question is; has anyone tried 'The Makers Diet'?
