Guest guest
Ok so I am one month out. Alot of the foods are too tough for me and so I eat very soft foods. Can we have refried beans? any kind of chinese food? I know we should'nt have carbs, but if once in awhile is ok what kind? What about pasta of anykind? I am so craving new foods! Water is finally going down better. I am laying off too much cheese and that is helping with the constipation. I miss the carbs sssssssssssssooooooooooooooooooooo much!!! Guest guest
Cecilia, you are only one month out and you should really follow the food plan as much as you possibly can to take full advantage of this honeymoon phase. When you reach 12 weeks you can eat what you want in moderation. Try to hang in there. I think the longer you stay away from certain foods the better off you are going to be and you will have a greater loss. Its too early for you to start veering off the road. I know it is hard but you did not go through all that you have to start cutting corners now. Way too early for that. Pam Marsh --- cecilia snickers_95203@...> wrote: > Ok so I am one month out. Guest guest
I am at 12 weeks out now and I haven't tried much new food, but I have not gone back to ANY carbs. The longer you stay off them, the less you crave them, I used to be addicted to them myself. You have to think emotionally, what is triggering you to " want " carbs at this stage of your recovery. That is what we are supposed to be doing while healing, listening to our internal diagloge, not trying to figure out ways to " work around " our new tool. Chinese, pasta, etc. Those are all red flags to me that you might want to discuss some of this with your nutritionalist and see what you can incorporate into your diet now to appease your carb cravings without giving in and jumping into the deep end. As Pam said it is too soon for you to be thinking this way. Sorry to be so hard, but sounds like you need direction. There are all the foods listed too in your binder that should guide you on what you can and can't eat at this stage. Guest guest
I had'nt seen this post and wrote another one. Please disregard the second post. Anyway thanks for the information from you and Pam. I did not even think period except that I was bored with what is allowed. You are right what I am craving is all carbs and I did'nt even notice. I guess I am just being a two year old wanting what I can't have. It is funny how I did not even see the response from the first posts. That tells me I did'nt even want to hear it. Thank you, I will follow directions. Cecilia --- specialkmix2000 specialkmix2000@...> wrote: > I am at 12 weeks out now and I haven't tried much > new food, but I > have not gone back to ANY carbs. Guest guest
I was thinking more about your plight last night. I know it is boring at this stage and just think once you are able to eat almost anything again, the control you will have since you will be over your carb cravings. I am wondering too if it isn't like what I went though. I wanted something crunchy. Not carb particularly, but I missed crunching something. Being on soft foods makes you feel more like you are missing out. A crunch of a cracker sounds good, but so did the crunch of a piece of lettuce. Hang in there and keep trudging along. When you get the craving figure out why? Are you bored? Watching tv? reading? Then resolve the feeling and it will go away. I worked though it and if I can do it, anywone can. For me, carbs is what got me to where I was to begin with. Ever since I was a baby, I was give cherrios when upset, or out to eat. Later in life that transitioned into having to have bread before dinner, and eating cheese and bread everyday. Anyway, now that the vicious circle has been cut out of my life, literally, I have the time and freedom to think of other things and you will see that you are going to be like that as well. Food isn't going to seem as important and you are going to find more things exciting to do that aren't food related. Going for walks and working out. Taking bike rides and learning how to roller blade, all the physical stuff that was limiting to us pre- op, there is a WHOLE new world out there and you are just taking your baby steps now. Don't be hard on yourself, celebrate what you have already achieved and know that you are going to succeed in this new journey of your life! You are doing a great job, just hang in there!
