Guest guest
Hi all, I am back! This is Vera. I had come off the list for a while to straighten out my computer(it was out of hand) For those who remember me Hi I hope all is well in your lives! For those who are new I had surgery in January with Dr Herron at Mt Sinai. I am 4 months post op and have lost 93 lbs I started with a Bmi of 60 and weighing 354lbs I am down to 261 right now and could not be more satisfied with my decision to have this surgery. Of course there are bumps in the road but the perks have all out weighed the complications. If any one has any questions that I can help with please do not hesitate to ask. I am back to getting e-mail for a while from the list. I missed everyone. I will try to catch up. Thanks for listening, Vera- Lansdale,Pa Starting Bmi-61-11/00 Dr. Herron / Dr. Pomp assisting @ Mt. Guest guest
Hi Vera, Glad you are back. I have some questions. I will have my surgery on June 12th with Dr Herron. What type of pain meds did you have in the hospital, how many days were you in the hospital? and what prescriptions did he give you on discharge? If you don't mind all the questions I am so anxious to learn what to expect. thanks, Gwen

Guest guest
Vera- Thanks for the great information. My date is getting closer and closer. I am planning on the lap if everything goes okay. Morphine makes me itch. GwenT
Guest guest
Gwen, I am so excited for you! June 12th is just a few days away. I had a Morphine pump immediately post op I only had that for about 24 hrs I do not like that stuff I have a bad reaction to it. Then I went on to something a bit milder and the toridol(wich by the way works very well) for the next 3 days. All total I was in the hospital from Friday to Tuesday. The hardest part for me was the ride home. and the leak test wich by the way Dr. Herron told me last week when I was in he does not do anymore unless you are running a fever post op. I came home on vicodin wich helped but it was awful to get down I had to crush them and mix them with something to get them in. I did discover that I was able to get liquid Tylenol and motrin down a bit better but getting the meds in the first few days at home was very hard for me. I was probably done taking them by 1 week post op. My surgery was done open, are you having lap or open? If you want anymore info let me know and I will e-mail you direct. I hope this is helpful.
