Guest guest
Heidi, I was glad to find out that you went ahead and tried the Miralax. I have recommended it to people for years. It changed my life. That seems sad to say, but constipation can really take a toll on your health and emotional well being. Anyway, I am glad that things are working out. (Is that a pun on words?) Anyway, I am glad that things are working out. (Is that a pun on words?) Karyn Oh Karyn, Just in time!! I needed a good laugh and was looking for one, just to raise my spirits, and that came along.....hahahaha!!! I've been feeling pooped (now, is this a pun on words?) all day, hurting quite a bit and in need of a recharge, and your comment did it. I, too was suffering a bit as I've had a few days of disagreement from my pseudocysts and started taking some percocet two days ago. Immediately the constipation followed. So I had to go out an refill my Miralax prescription.....just in time! Thanks for the laugh! With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina Regional Rep. PAI, Intl. Guest guest
Hi, After reading the post on Miralax I am concerned. What do you use for severe constipation? We used Milk of Magnesia and prunes for years. That combination became ineffective. Then we used Benefiber. Before that we used Metamucil. None of these worked for long. My daughter gets so constipated that it will take several enemas to get a movement going. She has had multiple tears and has developed hemmroids from trying to pass large stools. Her family doctor prescribed the Miralax and did not warn of any side effects. When she is in the hospital that is what they gave her also. She has problems enough. If there is a better alternative to the Miralax that does not have side effects I would love to know about it. Thanks, Shelby
Guest guest
We use Miralax daily and I would rather use this than any other option out there. It is one of the few laxatives that are safe for daily use. The use of enemas can make constipation worse. My DD is 6 and takes about a half capful a day. The main problem/risk with Miralax is dehydration. The way to prevent this is to give it with 8 oz of fluid. If your child will not drink that much then you can put Miralax in an ounce and then give them additional fluid of another type. This is not a problem for us as my daughter tends to have pulmonary edema anyway. There is no way that we would be without Miralax. My DD does not have hemmorhoids and has never had a tear. This would not be without daily Miralax use.
Guest guest
I have used a natural tea called smooth move. It has worked really well. My son has had terrible constipation and I like this because it is natural. Hope this helps. Guest guest
We have used Miralax on 2 of our kids with no side effects. I also have to use enema's occasionally but try to not use often as they can become addictive so my doc says. So we use the miralax with 8oz of juice for my daughter and my son gets his with formula through his G-Tube. Hope this helps. Good luck _________________________________________________________________ MSN 9 Dial-up Internet Access helps fight spam and pop-ups – now 2 months FREE! http://join.msn.click-url.com/go/onm00200361ave/direct/01/
Guest guest
Shelby, We have used Miralax for over two yrs. with . she does not get the full cap dose. we can increase it or decrease it based on her bowel movements at the time. Before using the miralax we also had to use enemas and suppositories. It was horrible. Now she has BMs everyday without any pain or problems. We have seen no side effects of this med. We also use reglan to help with her slow gastric emptying. This helps move the softer stool through. Dawn
Guest guest
Magnesium supplements work wonderfully for us, as well as keeping everyone well hydrated. Guest guest
Hi I noticed a lot of people are using miralax my son was on it too and I was told only to give it in a clear liquid like water or apple juice (any juice you can see thru) I was told not milk. My son doesn't need it anymore since he is on carnitor and coenzyme Q 10 he doesn't have the problem anymore. I am switching his coenzyme Q 10 to a wafer instead of the oil and then I might have to put him back on it if his constipation comes back. But hopefully the Carnitor will be enough.
