Ellen:

Joy, my wife, had pains out to two or three months post-op. They

varied in type and intensity. None of hers were exactly like yours.

But like yours they did come and go. One the surgeon said was due to

his having to spread the ribs a bit when he removed the gall

bladder. Others were simply unexplained. She felt that one was a

muscle pull. But the good news is that they all went away on their

own. And a little Vioxx. Expect some pains, and expect some to

remain unexplained. And expect to get over it.

Regards.

Hi,

I had a sharp pain in my mid right side. It started slowly & got

stronger. It was mostly if I took a drink while I was eating. It

got to where I couldn't take even the smallest sip while I ate. It

lasted about 3-4 weeks & went away. It's never come back. Could be

healing inside or scar tissue or something.

  • 4 years later...

So, for about the past 4 days or so everything I put in my mouth

(including water, crystal light, and any food) goes right through me.

As soon as I swallow it, my stomach starts cramping up and I better

get to the bathroom quick. I don't think I have a bug...other than

being really tired from starting my graveyard shift job on Sunday

night. Any ideas anyone?

Tina, I run a in home daycare and just wanted you to know there has been a stomach bug going around for over 3 weeks now, some people let it out at one end, others the other end and some both, seems to last 5 to 7 days. Not sure if this is what you have or not, all the daycare parents who had it said they didn't feel real bad just a little tired and they all went to work. The children who had it complained of a stomach ache before one end or the other it came. So stay on simple foods and water. If this is what it is eating fatty foods , heavy foods, dairy, just keep the problem coming. Broths, jello, popsicles, then when it seems better increase your intake, kinda like after surgery. If it keeps happening past 7 days, see your doctor. Tina, I have IBS, and you pretty much have described

what that is like. It usually doesn't last four days

for me, but in unusually stressful conditions, it can.

A prescription medication called Bentyl helps some.

Call the doc!

I also have IBS and the Bentyl is a wonderful drug. Keep in mind to stay away from anything acidic.

Tina, I am not sure what is going on neither should I

attempt to give you advice. What I can tell you is

that periodically my tummy gets aggiated and I take

the Carafate. My surgeon that that I might be one of

those people were my pouch gets aggitated (a lot of

people's do). The stomach is constantly changing and

sometimes it can get overworked just like any other

part of our body. It could be too much

liquid...sometimes happens. It could be a great deal

of time since the last time you put food in your tummy

or it just might be a bug.

If you get overly concerned, call the surgeon. I hope

you feel better.
