It must be really hard to go through all this. I have some major thinking to do about my AICD surgery coming up on Monday. The doctor was such an arrogant bugger today when I tried to ask him questions. Guest guest
Hi All.My name is Shyrose, and am new to the group, well not really...I joined the group back in I think 2000 when it had just started and was on for quite a few years. I don't know if anyone is still on from back then if you are..How is everyone doing? I got neuro in 1997 and went from 115 lbs to almost 200 in months on prenidisone plus every med you can think about. I finally weaned myself of the stuff in 2003 and was sent to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota They did every test in the book. My neuro is in remission, but is has left me with weak bladder, pain center that does not turn off, which means constant pain from head to toe all the time, headaches are so bad at times I feel like cutting my head off. Lost short-term memory, don't walk very much (basically around my apt), don't sit very long, I have a brand new stove that I've never used, because I can't use it, because when I leave the kitchen I would forget I was cooking and burn everything. I only use the microwave, Toaster oven because they all turn themselves off and I also use Meals on Wheels. Still have a hard time talking, forgetting what I'm saying or screwing up words. Also my thyroid got screwed up had surgery on that and for some reason they started to grow back again so now I have to have MRI's every 6 months, when they get to a certain size they have to operated again (not looking forward to that) on. Would u believe this is in remission!!!! I see my neurologist and pulmonary specialist once a year. I have am tested every 3 months to make sure that I am still in remission and my liver and kidneys and working OK. A couple of other things, the only thing that keep the headaches under control is something called Topomax I take 250mg a day. I also take Omega-3 supplement and Cranberry concentrate tabs helps to keep the liver and kidneys from creating stones. My Neuro also just started me on Aricept to see if it would help with the memory loss. That brings me up to date. Its good to be back.
