Guest guest
I have been on SCD for 4 months. Immediately that I started SCD I felt a lot better and my CD symptoms were relieved somewhat. But after 4 months there has been no further progress. Infact I have fallen back to needing to go back on pednisone. I have read BTVC and stay on intro to level 1-2 foods on the pecan list. I read alot here about people taking LDN along with being on SCD and am considering going back to my Dr. to ask about this. Last Summer at the time I started SCD my Dr. was wanting me to try Remicade. My CD has been out of remission since July 08 and I have lost 30lbs since then. I think LDN is safer than Remicade? I am interested to hear from people using these treatments along with following SCD? Any other suggestions? I know 4 months on SCD is only a short time. I plan to stay strictly on this diet for at least two years. If I get to a point of remission from SCD then I will stay on indefinetely. This is a great diet! I regularly read this forum and get alot of information and support here. Thanks for all your help. .
Guest guest
LDN is safer than Remicade, however it is not a mainstream treatment for IBD due to lack of research. It is best to use it with SCD. There are a number of people on this board, including me, that are happy with it. Some get it from their GI docs, but others, like me, get it from another source, since my GI would not consider a treatment that does not have significant research behind it. There is one study in progress and here is another one: http://www.nature.com/ajg/journal/v102/n4/abs/ajg2007152a.html PJ > > I have been on SCD for 4 months. Guest guest
Oops meant to post this yesterday. Mara > I have been on SCD for 4 months. Well, IME, there can be an extended dip after the 3rd month. You may have to tinker with the diet to figure out how to increase your progress. I eventually went low fructose for a while and that worked for me. > Infact I have fallen back to needing to go back on pednisone. A lot safer. Remicade suppresses your immune system. LDN modulates it into working correctly. Plus, it increases your endorphins! Yay endorphins! Also, remicade doesn't work for everyone. I was on it - stupidly - for about a year or 14 months, and it really did nothing for me at all, except for 3 weeks when, after a while of the regular dose not helping, the doctor started me on a double dose of it. After that, it stopped working again, even on the double dose. I eventually just stopped taking it. So it might work for you, it might not. > I am interested to hear from people using these treatments along with following SCD? > > Any other suggestions? I know 4 months on SCD is only a short time.
