Guest guest
Hi all,Cx my surgery for Monday (AICD) b/c doctor was evasive and whole thing felt wrong. , it really helped talking with you the other night in the chatroom. Too long to go into here but doctor was planning to place a pacemaker as well as the AICD and wasn't going to say a word to me about it (until Monday when I would have had to sign the consent form...but that would have been right before going into surgery!) except I had called my insurance company to ask about authorization and was told yes it was auth but the doctor had also asked for a pacemaker. We had never discussed anything other than an AICD. I have a right to know this stuff since the surgery would have gone from 1 hour to 3 under general anesthetic (I have a hx of postop clots). So I asked the doctor and he said yes there would be a pacemaker too AND he would need to cut me in my left side and my left upper chest for the leads. Anyway, not ruling out the AICD but have some thinking to do regarding WHO is going to do this. The doctor was really arrogant too. My 31 yo daughter was with me for a second pair of ears (I'm so glad) and she couldn't believe his attitude. When I asked how long before I could drive he replied "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it". You all just would not believe this. What a mess. So am waiting to hear back from my s Hopkins doctor...I trust him and will go with what he says. In the meantime since my dental work is finally done (stitches just fell out last night) I will be starting the Cellcept next week. You all are wonderful. Thanks for listening and caring. Guest guest
Becky, I've always said to listen to that inner voice. I'm glad that you are going to get the advice of your other MD-- and follow it. Arrogance and ego seem to go with cardiologists. (And neurologists.) And. . Anyway, follow your heart- literally!
