Guest guest
OK, I will now confess what I did. In the beginning, my 27 years of experience with what did and didn't agree with me got me pretty much to SCD, once I ditched the rice. But I didn't give up my black tea because it didn't seem to cause any troubles and anyhow I drank it very weak. I continued to have no troubles (or so I thought) until a few days ago when I got some unexplained gut pains, feeling a bit irritated. Eventually I remembered the black tea and quit it, and voila!, away went that pain. I know, I know, I hear you laughing, Marilyn! I guess I'm helping to prove Elaine right, too. Now if the green tea will just feel like it has a little taste once in awhile. Oh well, I did adjust to the different taste of legal mustards. Guest guest
Now if the green tea will just feel like it has a little taste once in awhile. You don't have to dilute green tea. Just limit the amount you drink to 2 cups. Green teaLegalLimited to 2 cups per day.Mara

I am undoubtedly not as advanced as you are so it makes sense.

Weak black tea IS legal so I'm not going to thump you over that one... I truly understand how hard it is to give up comfort stuff. Guest guest
My experience with tea, like so many permitted foods and drinks on SCD, is that there is no guarantee that our own digestions (or other body systems) will tolerate it in the same way once you develop a digestive disorder. And sometimes it takes a while to develop a sensitivity to a permitted food or drink. I have always been a tea drinker, but now that I have a dysfunctional upper GI I can't drink all types of black tea even though I make them very weak. I can't touch green teas or the permitted ginger or mint teas without becoming very sick within a minute or two. And another quirk is that my upper GI (mainly my stomach) will tolerate 2 cups a day of weak black tea, but is much happier with just one cup per day. So, I buy a few good-quality black teas that my upper GI will tolerate, and enjoy my daily cup. Even better, my stomach cooperates. The teas that work best for me are the milder ones like Darjeeling and a few mild black tea blends I get from Harney & Sons. I also make it very weak. You might have to experiment a bit to find which teas, if any, your digestion will accept. My digestive disorder is functional, so won't improve. You may be more lucky, and will find that you can go back to drinking more tea in another year of two. Kim M. SCD 5+ years > > OK, I will now confess what I did.
