Your thoughts on whether the disease is mild-moderate-severe has more to do with subjective experience in terms of how it limits/affects the children or family makes a lot of sense to me. I remember when my MIL had cancer and had to have a g-tube - for her, the experience of not being able to eat was worse than almost any other side effect of the chemo or cancer b/c her family life revolved around cooking, eating, and entertaining.
