Hi Kim, I am considering starting this diet but it seems like it's mostly

effective for those with diarrhea. I on the other hand have constipation

predominant colitis. What has your experience with this diet has been like? Do

you think I should give it a try?

If you read BTVC, you will discover that diarrhea and constipation are

opposite ends of the same spectrum. Heal the gut, and you can heal the

problem, either way.

I started the diet with constipation as one of my main issues. Not any more! The

last time I had a bout was probably June, and before that, I think I had a bout

in April. When I started SCD, my system had a 4 day transit. SCD brought it down

to a 2 day transit. That alone is enough to make me stick with the diet :-).

Hi-

I have colitis, not as much D-ra but more bleeding. They say the diet works

best for CD with classic D-ra symptoms, but it has helped a lot of people with

all kinds of problems. I am 4 weeks into the diet. But it has helped me put

brakes on the symptoms.

By trying, you probably have nothing to lose except some more time in the

kitchen, but a lot to gain.

Welcome aboard!

I have Crohn's with constipation and it's helped me a lot. My symptoms before

were severe pain and inflammation. The diet took care of the for me. However, it

didn't totally rid me of constipation. I have to eat prunes daily to keep

regular. Nothing else seems to work.

I have IBS, the mixed kind, so I have never known which way it will go on

any given day. I've only been on SCD a few months but I have much

smaller fluctuations and many times I am actually.... gasp!...

normal! I think you will find SCD has a normalizing effect as the

gut heals.
