Guest guest
Hey, all! I had my DS on 2/28/01 and life is good! I have a question, though, and hope someone can answer it. I am very pleased with my weight loss, but I remember someone posting quite a while ago about their doctor telling them roughly what % of excess weight they should lose by what point. If example, we should lose xx% of our excess weight in the first 6 months and then xx% by the end of the first year and then 100% by the end of the second year. I do know that the fastest weight loss is within the first 6 months, but I don't know how much that should be. Does anyone remember this or do you have an idea of where we should be at what point? I am a little over 3 months post-op and have lost 52% of my excess weight. I am just curious about how I am doing and what to expect in the future. Thanks! in IL Dr. Lap DS 2/28/01 -62 Pounds

Guest guest
- You're doing awesome!! It varies so much by person, but a lot of people have mentioned losing 50% by six months -- so you're WAY ahead of the game. So happy for you! Guest guest
The first statistic I've seen quoted is that most patents lose between 60% and 80% of their excess weight with this surgery. The second is that most patents have lost 50% of the weight that they are going to lose at the six month mark. I also know I have seen several exceptions to these rules.
