Guest guest
Dr. Rimland says that there is almost no way that DMG can hurt a child... DMG is a food and the only side effect that I know of is some increased hyperactivity in some children. Folic acid can counteract. We are using TMG which is the " big brother of DMG " with no problems at all. kelly leigh. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
, I can appreciate where you are coming from!! Gillian had the hardest time starting supps. It took me nearly 3 months to get the first one in and each time I tried we'd have a regression. It was terrible. In learning from each attempt, here is what I found works for us. Hope it is useful to you. 1. SLOW is the way to go! 2. Have a strict GFCF diet in place and introduce no new foods when introducing a supp. You'll need the control to determine what is a problem if a reaction should occur. 3. if you have had a problem and can't get anything to work, stop all supps for 10 days to allow the system to clear out. This was the toughest one for me. I felt as if I was losing precious time, but what I found was if the system was not clear, I got mixed results and regression. 4. JOURNAL!! Time, place, with or without food, reaction, skin color, poops and pees. 5. Use only hypo allerg. pure, pure, pure supps. No flavors, colors, sweetners. This was HUGE for us when I figured it out. The flavorings, dyes, etc made her hyper and sorbitol is corn based (bad for us) 6. Start with a sprinkle a day. My goal for a new supp is to make 1 cap last the whole week and then gradually increase the next week to 1/3 a cap on day 1, 1/3 day 2, 1/2 day 3, 1/2day 4, 2/3 day 5, 2/3 day 6, 1cap day 7. 7. I start new supps mid week. So if there is a reaction, it shows by friday and we'll have the weekend to regroup and she won't lose a week of therapy. 8. Recognize that the body may not be ready for the supp at the time. Move it to the bottom of the list and start with a new one. Ex DMG was terrible for us in November 2000, she takes it now no problem and has seen good stuff from it. 9. plan supp time. Some like SNT and DMG should not be given after 3 pm. Hyper. 10. PRAY!! Hope this helps. You'll learn how your sweetie works. Be patient! Hang in there. in Chicago Subject: DMG >O.K., we tried SNT almost 3 weeks ago and gave up because was >aggressive, yelling, and mean. Guest guest
I don't know whether anyone else has replied or not. I have not tried SNT but it may help to use the hypo-allergenic version. Plus I think you are supposed to build up to the dose. In other words don't start off with the dosage but start small and build from there. Same thing with the DMG... > O.K., we tried SNT almost 3 weeks ago and gave up because was > aggressive, yelling, and mean. He took it for about 1 1/2 weeks. Guest guest
Thanks for the info. We've been on the diet for a year now and I finally had the courage to try these supps but I guess we need to wait a little longer. He's been an angel since we've stopped so it doesn't bother me that they didn't work. We'll see if we try them again but not now. MA
Guest guest
Angel, *D.M.G. (N, N, -Dimethylglycins HCL 50 mgm/ml) - 5 to 7 ml per day. Of all the supplements we have ever used with , this is the one that has shown the most obvious, sustained, benefits. The first time we put him on it, with in 3 to 4 days, we saw a marked improvement in his epilepsy, energy levels, alertness, and a complete " drying up " of the rattling at the back of the throat. We did a trial of taking him off it, and with in 10 days, noticed a return or marked increase in all these things, even reverting back to not opening his mouth to feed, as was the case in his early months of life. We again trailed off the D.M.G. recently. He was off it for over 2 months when we started to notice a return of the " rattles " in the back of his throat, and an increased susceptibility to secondary illnesses. We returned him to a 2ml per day maintenance dose, as of the 17th April 2001, and have noticed a marked improvement in these areas again. The coenzyme Q 10 is what is most beneficial so far to my son. Thank you Angel
