Guest guest
Hubby had a lumbar pucture on Friday to determine if he has NS. How long does it take to get the results? He also is leaking spinal fluid. Kathleen

He also is leaking spinal fluid. Kathleen, It can take a couple of weeks for them to get the results. Do know that what it will show is that he has systemic inflammation (maybe) or MS protein bands. Even lumbar punctures aren't going to say that he has neurosarcoidosis. What they do is rule out that he doesn't have something else. As far as the leaking spinal fluid-- if he has intense headaches with this-- go back in and they can do what is called a bloodpatch to close the spot that they did the puncture at. If he's not having any problems, it generally takes a week to 10 days for the spot to close completely. Make sure he stays somewhat quiet and gets plenty of fluids, so that he doesn't aggravate the spot for a day- that generally closes the spot on it's own. Guest guest
Kathleen get your hubby back to the hospital. Leaking spinal fluid is not good after a lumbar puncture. Guest guest
, Hubby is just wanting to stick his head in the sand. He won't make an appt until he talks with the neuro -- who gave him a follow-up appt of DECEMBER 14th -- one month away!!!! Can you phone me, I can't seem to find your number. Guest guest
Thanks for letting me know. His neuro set an appt for about 3-4 weeks away and I thought that was too long.
