So, I was thinking that I could just buy some butter from the store and then let it ferment for 24 hours at room tempurature with some whey added to it. Guest guest Posted December 16, 2009 Report Share Posted December 16, 2009 I'm not sure this would work. Butter left at room temperature for 24 hours wouldn't really ferment. The only way I know of to make cultured butter is to make cultured (or sour) cream from heavy whipping cream and then make the butter from that. Liz > I would like to make some cultured butter.
