I have been on the intro diet for twelve days, then stage 1 for four days. My

symptoms are bleeding with a BM. No diareahha. Does this make me eligible to

move to stage 2 recipes? I only seem to see references to diarhhea subsiding

and then moving on. With Christmas parties etc. I'm going crazy only eating

pureed carrots and broiled meat. Anybody out there who can advise? also I made

yoghurt with goat's milk for the first time and it didn't congeal AT ALL! still

looks just like milk. it's delicious but I'm afraid to drink it. have I done

something wrong? I have been making yoghurt for four months with cow's milk and

it thickens up okay but thougth this might help. should I not be drinking

yoghurt at this stage? Can't seem to find out. thanks, Eileen

Eileen,Goat milk yoghurt is typically runny. You need to drip it. I drip in batches using a cone shaped paper coffee filter and my *Melitta* coffee cone and pot. After 24 hours of dripping (in the fridge) I have a nice thick yoghurt. As for adding Stage 2 foods, I would suggest you go ahead slowly; waiting a couple of days between additions and keep careful notes of the foods you are taking in and your symptoms. Each person is different in what foods their body will accept or reject, so the stages on pecanbread are just a guide. Because of the proximity to the holidays, be mindful that you probably won't have a huge variety by Christmas or New Year. Just be cautious not to "steamboat" your way into it. VivienSCD - 23

I can't get goat's milk where I live, so I started with cow's milk and did OK. I

bought goats milk out of town once and made the yogurt- and it was so runny I

could not stand it.

There is no " rule " for advancing. It's what you can tolerate. Go slowly and add

foods one at a time. Keep a food diary. If something bothers you, take it out.

You may tolerate it later. I found myself advancing, and then going back several

times. Avoid raw or advanced foods for a while.

Hi Eileen-

I had(ve) similar symptoms as yours -- no D, but blood in BM. What's helped me,

in addition to SCD, is Lialda and Rowasa, since UC is in my colon. SCD started

controlling my symptoms and when I started taking meds into 3rd week of SCD,

that really helped.

I am one month into SCD and on Stage 2. In response to my question similar to

yours, I was advised to move 'slowly' adding veggies and fruits listed in

pecanbread stages making sure that things do not worsen. Even if BM is status

quo, you can still move forward in stages so that you get enough nutrients to

heal. Because its going to take a while, and you can't just be on Chicken soup

and Intro for that time.

For instance, during the 2nd week of SCD, when I tried applesauce I had more

bleeding. Now I don't bleed, but when I had applesauce yesterday, it increased

cramping and made me uncomfortable - I stopped. But I do ok with pearsauce.

Good luck,

Andy.
