Guest guest
Hi All, I recently joined your group and I wish to thank inSLO for turning me on to it. You guys are great and very informative! I have my initial consult with Dr. keshishian on July 31, so I am in the very beginning stages, but I find it so exciting! I will be going to my first support meeting, God willing, on June 21 in Paso Robles. I am wondering if there are any " seasoned citizens " out there like me (I'm 57) who have undergone the procedure? If so, please let me know how it went. I look forward to my new life and to meeting lots of you as time goes by. Blessings, Sue

This way, i figure I might live to my mid-80's like most of the men in my family, but life should be good along the way: I will have mobility and very few of the co-morbidities that plagued my father and grandfather. I did not bounce back as quickly as some of the other post-ops, and that COULD in part be a function of my age. But, I had no major complications, just a few niggling problems like gassy bowels and lightheadedness, which are both in the process of clearing up. I find that I can sleep a lot! Naps during the day come easily, and I can log a full night's sleep to boot. Maybe that's where the younger crowd beats me. So, if you are a working person, I'd plan on taking at least a month off to recuperate; I am tanking a full six weeks and then going on vacation for the seventh week. Good luck! --Steve -- Steve Goldstein, age 61 Lap BPD/DS on May 2, 2001 Dr. Elariny, INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Virginia Starting (05/02/01) BMI = 51 BMI on 06/09 = 44.
