It's fine. Some people use this in desserts. Just be sure there are no additives

in the cream. I've seen additives in some brands. Fat is ok- it's the lactose we

want to get out of the dairy products by making 24 hr yogurt.

Is it okay to ferment heavy cream for 24 hours (like the yogurt), or is this a no-no because of the fat content?Do you make heavy cream into yogurt. Go for it. Yum. We don't worry too much about fat content on SCD of healthy, traditional fats. Mara

Its ok but make sure there are no thickeners or additives in the cream before you use it. It makes a great cream for desserts or toppings.

In reply to, "Do you make heavy cream into yogurt" well, I might be scd illegal, but I actually made some cultured cream from whey that was leftover from some kefir I made (not yogurt). I cannot find a yogurt maker where I am. I'm in GA in case anyone can tell me where in GA I can get a yogurt maker. I hate ordering online because I won't know if I'm satisfied with it until I get it, and then I don't want the hassle of having to send it back.

Replace your stove bulb with a 60 watt bulb and theoven temperature will pretty likely keep perfect temperature. Stick in a thermometer with the yogurtjust to be sure. It works amazingly well. Mara

I'm in a rural area- no access to much of anything. I ordered the standard

Yogourmet and I am happy with it. I also ordered probiotics and yogurt starter.

I'm quite happy with them. I know that people are pleased with Lucy's Kitchen

Shop, Digestive Wellness and GI pro health. If not for access to these online

sources, I would have had a more difficult time starting SCD. I think Digestive

Wellness also carries the dimmer switches for the Yogourmet as well.

Laurie,

Here’s a link about making yogurt from the BTVC website:

http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/yoghurt/yoghurt.htm

I did not see ‘making yogurt in an oven’ (one way to do it), but

there is info on making yogurt with a heating pad, another alternative.

Somewhere in the BTVC-SCD files are instructions on making

yogurt in the oven.

Does your gas stove have a pilot light, or an electronic

igniter?

Perfectly okay! It's delicious, but almost too heavy for me. I actually

prefer dripped half & half yogurt.
