Guest guest
Hi Amber, Yes, the dry roasted macademia nut butter that you mention is legal, so is green tea. You’re allowed 2 cups per day. However, if you drink black tea, it must be weak. All herbal teas are illegal on the SCdiet except peppermint tea. Guest guest
Thanks for your prompt response, ! Does it matter if the green tea is decaffeinated or not? Guest guest
You’re welcome… Yes it matters. Elaine didn’t allow decaf products as we are not sure of the process being used. I felt crappy when I drank decaf coffee. All the best, Thanks for your prompt response, ! Does it matter if the green tea is decaffeinated or not? Water-process decaf can be legal -- but regular decaf is not because of the chemicals involved. Problem is, it can be hard to find verifiable water-process. Most people find it best to make the regular tea and then dilute it. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Guest guest
I have read several places that you can put your tea bag in your hot water for about 1 minute, take out, get a fresh cup of hot water and put the tea bag back in. Within that first minute or so much of the caffeine comes out. Worth a try! I felt crappy when I drank decaf coffee. There are different processes used to decaffeinate tea. I've written the companies before SCD on this, actually. Sometimes I got a response like " We only use chemicals certified by the government to be safe -- don't worry " . Yeah, sure. But the right way to do it is with steam, and some use that. Having said that, it's easy enough to decaffeinate your own. Take a regular tea bag and steep it 30 seconds. Throw that out. You have now soaked most of the caffeine out of it and the next cups you get out of that tea bag will be pretty much caffeine-free. Since we are drinking weak tea anyhow, there's still enough life left in the tea bag after that.
