Guest guest
Now, it's the best thing that ever happened to me. The most important thing in the world is your health. It always has been to me. It's like oxygen... you take it for granted until you don't have it anymore. See how long holding your breath starts being not so enjoyable anymore! When I started this diet I hated it. Alot of change in a very very short period of time. No more eating out, no more "being like everyone else". Well what if everyone else is doing it wrong and you're the only one that's right? The vast majority of the people that post on this board are just starting the diet either for the first time for starting over again because they gave up or decided they made too many mistakes. Why is it that very few people here have been on the diet for 3 years? 5 years? 10 years? It's been around for that long... I have a feeling it's because people come here for help, get what they need and feel "normal" again. Then they are too busy living their lives to "Waste" time posting on these boards anymore. I'm starting to feel like getting Ulcerative Colitis was the BEST thing to ever happen to me and not the worst like I originally thought. It's given me such a brouder outlook on life in general not to mention what I put into my body. Even if they come out with a cure for UC by taking one simple pill... I doubt I would do it and even if I would there is 100% chance I would stay on this diet anyway. Such a great way of keeping your whole body ready for anything! If you're getting discouraged by the diet and how insanely hard it is, maybe the hardest things in life reap the greatest rewards. Not everyone is capable of following this diet, so prove you can do it and stick with it!-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 7 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 5 pills a day Hotmail: Trusted email with Microsoft’s powerful SPAM protection. You're right. Keeping up with lots and lots of messages takes lots and lots of time. Most people, once they've learned how to handle the diet, get back to having a normal life. A life that doesn't center around their disease process. I stay in order to " pay forward. " I can never repay those who gave generously of their time, especially, but not limited to, Elaine Gottschall, to teach me what I needed to know. But I can " pay forward " by teaching others. BTVC-SCD is incredibly fortunate to have a number of longer term people here to help answer questions. People who, in their own ways, are as crazy as I am about keeping this miracle alive. <g> Who knows, -- maybe you'll be one of the teachers. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
, I also feel that being on SCD and the information I have learned here is one of the most enlightening experiences I have had. I have no desire to go back to the way I was eating before. (I do hope, in the years to come, that I could eat at other people's houses once in a while, but if I can't, I can live with that ) I also believe I will eat this way from now on. It is one of the best things I have done for myself. You, me, and Alyssa are a " cohort " . We all started at the same time, and we're still hanging in there (yay). Guest guest
I agree with you. I read not long ago some doctor that said the best way to live a long and healthy life is to contract a chronic disease early and learn to take care of yourself. I think I agree with that! I'm starting to feel like getting Ulcerative Colitis was the BEST thing to ever happen to me and not the worst like I originally thought. It's given me such a brouder outlook on life in general not to mention what I put into my body
