So all this talk about colonoscopy prep got me thinking of DH and his colonoscopy coming up in january. Here is what the doc has told him to do and I'm looking for the best way to stick with it, but not be too horrible. I know I can ask the doc for alternatives, but frankly I trust you guys more!

1. Miralax - he was told to mix this with 64 oz of gatorade. The thought of him downing 64 oz of pure sugar is VERY disturbing to me! Does he have to mix it with the gatorade? Can he just use water, or is there an alternative? Should he use the trilyte instead maybe like Marilyn used? What's the difference?

2. Dulcolax - as per Marilyn's email, I think we'll go with easy-lax instead which should have less illegals. Is that an ok switch?

3. Magnesium citrate - the label doesn't look too horrible. It does have "flavors" which I'm sure are not legal, but the rest looks pretty innocent, so I guess we can stick with that, unless you tell me otherwise.

So I guess the main question is the Miralax and the gatorade - any thoughts?

Thanks,

Devorah

For my last prep (the one before surgery), I took 3 or 4 generic Dulcolax

(Equate from Walmart) and a bottle of Miralax. I just mixed it with water

instead of gatorade. Other then that, I ate homemade jello, and drank juice and

tea (with honey). If you're worried about electrolytes, you could purchase some

Elyte to drink.

They make something called Smartwater which is electrolyte water without the

sugar. It's just water and electrolytes. Taste just like water.

Thanks! He's decided to just use water also.
