Guest guest
Hi All, I would like to tell you about a conversation I had with at Fremont yesterday. I didn't post it as i was still scratching my head about it til the wee hours of the morning. I have a hernia which Dr Hahn is going to repair at surgery. Well it has been getting worse and I left a message to see what my options were at this point as I am still 13 pounds until 10%. She said I should go back to my PCP since my WLS is many months out and maybe I waould have to have 2 surgeries. One to repair the hernia now and WLS when I lose my 10%. How stupid is that? Mind you I am not trying to buck the system, even though I can't seem to get the weight off (another topic entirely). But why would I go through a major surgery twice if I didn't have to? Agravating is putting it mildly. I did however get an appointment with the nutritionist again for 10/21. I am writing down everything I consume to find out where I am subotaging my body into not losing anymore but maintaining. I have decided that I am going to make the best effort I can to see how much I can lose prior to this appointment. Just knowing that I will be seeing someone and weighing in might be the trick, a challenge. Maybe if I show only 7 or 8 pounds until goal, my options might open up sooner. Guest guest
I know this seems so stupid, but we are at risk already and adding the two surgeries together will take longer in the operating room, so you will be out longer and depending on all your problems that may make the risk even higher. They just won't add some surgeries together, I asked myself before my WLS in April 2005. Talk straight to your surgeon and let him explain why. Guest guest
Jeanne, Hi...I can understand you scratching your head. That seems ridiculous that you are only 13lbs away and they would rather do 2 major surgeries on you then just do it now. It is so much more of a risk to put you under 2 times. I think that they are just not thinking clearly. Just think of the cost to have 2 surgeries instead of doing just the one. I wish you luck on the 21st. Guest guest
I am in at 1:30, however if I plan on trying to see Dr Hahn about my hernia it might be a little longer and we should say hello. Anyone else have appointments of 10/21?
