HMR & Lindora Protein Problems

Hi All~

I am currently doing my 'Pre-Surgery Diet' as outlined by Dr.

. I am to drink three Protein Shakes a day by adding

Protein Powder to 8 oz. of Skim Milk.

I've been blending either an envelope of HMR - Lactose Free or

else an envelope of Lindora, either Wildeberry or Pina Colada

with Lactaid Milk and ice. The shakes are as good as real milk

shakes. I feel so lucky to be losing weight just by drinking such

delights but I have a big problem: Diarrhea!

I'm being so careful to eliminate the Lactose. Initially, when I

first started the diet, I even was careful to take Dairy Care every

day; I even tried taking Lactaid pills. Nothing has helped which

tells me this isn't a Lactose problem. The diarrhea starts late in

the day and lasts till about midnight. That means it starts several

hours after the second shake of the day.

I did the HMR weight loss diet 9 years ago; lost about 80

pounds. At that time I had no unpleasant reaction to the product.

This diarrhea now comes on days even when I only consume

Lindora and no HMR. I am totally baffled. I have never been

allergic to anything and only just became lactose-intolerant

within the last five years. I figured that I'm getting a preview of

post-surgery diarrhea but whatever I'm experiencing now is apt

to be magnified after surgery.

I really LOVE the taste of these protein shakes so I'm more

motivated to figure out how to have my shakes without the

diarrhea than I am to switch to some grainy protein product that

will taste gross.

Can anyone offer insight as to what is going on? Might the

problem go away if I have the shakes just with water and then

have milk by itself? That, I could live with. Please someone come

up with a workable suggestion.

Thank you.

Dear Gobo,

I too am on my pre-surgery, lose weight so I reduce the risks diet, and am

also using HMR products, and have ALSO had the diarrhea problem! For me it

comes and goes, but I can't figure out a pattern.

I think the HMR shakes taste great too. I often add berries for fiber and

vitamins. I've been taking immodium on bad days, and have also been using

the lactose free shakes. Can't figure it out, but I've dropped 14.5 lbs in 2

1/2 weeks. I can only do it because I know its temporary and will help the

surgery. I'm finding it extremely difficult, but am mostly sticking to it.

I'm flying to CA tomorrow for consults with Dr. Anthone and Dr. Keshishian.

I was supposed to leave on Sat., but couldn't because Houston was (is)

flooded and flights were cancelled. I don't think there'll be a problem

tomorrow.

Do you have a date for surgery yet?

Sorry I can't offer a solution, but I'm experiencing the same thing.

Peace,

Robyn

Robyn and Gobo,

Where did you guys (or gals, rather!!) get the HMR shakes? I've never heard of them, but would like to give them a try.

Thanks!!
