Guest guest
Someone gave me a great idea. I am going to check with -the nutritionist. Buy empty capsules and fill them with the highest protein powder and take them as capsules with lots of water and you can get protein in that way. Again, I don't know if this is a perfect idea because why wouldn't the stores sell it this way. That is why I am going to ask the nutritionist. Ellen (Pam)--Has anyone tried this? Guest guest
You'd probably have to take about 40 capsules to get enough protein. Patience paid off. Kathy Bazzi 5-15 354lbs as of 5-31 -32lbs. forever

Most powders it takes around 120 capsules to get 1 dose, using " 00 " capsules.. I know, cuz I experimented preop.. The vita4life stuff fits in 4 capsules.. but its so freakin expensive! I admit I am tempted because my intake right now is nada.. & I need some protein somehow... If someone sold pure protein powder w/out fillers, to me the capsules would be worth it.. but for now.. its an idea that is before its time, dangit... siigh.. Guest guest
" The vita4life stuff fits in 4 capsules.. but its so freakin expensive! Ya know I thought it was too until I added some things up. If I took the vita4life capules for my weight etc I would need to spend $49.95 a month/ 12 caps a day. Then I added up the multivitamins and calcium I would need if I continued with the brands I am taking now.. and ya know what... Some Drs. recommend a multivit. and calcium up to 1600 mg a day - that works out to $44.58 for not counting tax if there is any. Considering the vita4life are designed for bariatric patient - to dissolve quickly so that the maximum amount of supplement is absorbed by the body, no fillers etc. They are completely dissolved 7-10 min depending on tab or capsule... no waste of money there... and the price includes shipping and handling.. its turns out to be a good deal... and I don't have to chew those huge calcium tabs either! The vit and mineral dosages are great.., i.e. Calcium 2,000 mg so they dont seem that much difference in price afterall... I ordered a sample to see how my body tolerated it...hasnt arrived yet though. I never though I would need a sample but I did try Twinlab Calcium Citrate Plus Magnesium which for some reason made me break into an itchy rash... I stopped them for a while as a test ...the rash and itchiness went away. Then I started back on them and same results... Then I tried Twinlab Calcium Citrate With Mag&Vita D.. chewables... no problem but you need 4 large tabs for only 1000 mg of calcium... even diveded up thats a lot of chalky chewing .... ick! That kind of made the vita4life tempting to try anyway. http://www.vita4life.net/ UGH! I just realized I wrote all the above talking about vitamins and you obviously meant protein! I don't think vita4life has a powdered protein.. They do have a liquid protein that dissolves with hot or cold food or drink... or you can take the liquid on its own. Did you mean that.. putting the liquid in capsules? mary bmi 68 corona, ca pre op 6/27/01 dr rabkin cigna ppo

Guest guest
What ,my friend told me is that if you get the 00 capsules and add Met RX which is 16 grams per tablespoon , she says it fills 4 capsules foer the 16 grams. I wonder how we absorb that compared to drinking it. Ellen Pam

Guest guest
Where does one get the empty capsules that we can fill ourselves? Patience paid off. Kathy Bazzi 5-15 354lbs as of 5-31 -32lbs. forever
Guest guest
I spoke to , the nutrtitionist, and she states that if you are getting enough protein-80 to 100 grams a day she would rather that then protein powder. She also stated that if you eat larger quantities of protein it will convert into fat. She doesn't know if the capsules will absorb or which ones to recommend. I am going to do the 80 to 100 with food and be content. Thanks. Ellen(Pam
Guest guest
Just out of curiosity... Has anybody heard of the " Near Zero " bars (unfortunately I can't recall as to who makes them) but they supposedly taste good and are low carb and high protein. I'm going to do some more research on them but if anybody has any information on them, that would be great. :-) M Palmer (Phone) (Fax) kpalmer@... > Re: Idea to get protein in without drinking > it > > What ,my friend told me is that if you get the 00 capsules and add Met RX > which is 16 grams per tablespoon , she says it fills 4 capsules foer the > 16 > grams. Guest guest
Many health food stores carry empty capsules in several sizes, & mine even carried a capsule filler- a little setup that held 100 caps at a time to fill them. I'm still hoping to use mine.. so we'll see =) Hugs, Liane > Where does one get the empty capsules that we can fill ourselves? > > Patience paid off. > Kathy Bazzi > 5-15 354lbs > as of 5-31 -32lbs. forever
