Hi Robyn;

Yes, I have a firm surgery date of July 9, 2001. I'm really excited

but I'm also getting nervous; feeling as though there are things I

should be taking care of that I'm not thinking of.

Are you drinking the HMR with water as the directions say or with

milk? My surgeon (Dr. ) specifies to do it with skim milk

to enhance the Protein.

I spoke to a nurse who is very involved with nutrition. He said that

possibly it's the artificial sweetner that is causing the diarrhea.

He also said that it is not unusual that my digestion is not at its

best. I'm not sure if he meant considering how I've eaten the past

years or considering how large I am now. Whatever1

I do think that he may be on to something; that the problem is the

artificial sweetner. Now, if I could just figure out how to overcome

this obstacle. Like you it does not prevent me from doing this

diet; it just makes life very, well, urgent at times. ;-}

I was hoping to continue with perhaps one shake a day

post-surgery in an effort to keep my protein up. These shakes

(especially the Lindora fruit ones) really are so yummy.

By the way, I was told that the most important reason for stocking

up on Protein prior to surgery is to aid in recovery afterwards. I've

noticed a dramatic improvement in my nails, teeth and hair. I

must have really been lacking in protein before. I've not done as

well as you have in losing. I've lost 5 pounds in about 2 weeks.

Good luck to you too. Let me know how it goes.

I've heard that Sorbital is a sweetner that may cause diarrhea.
