Hi group. This is Shauna in Atlanta. I know what you are talking about with the headaches. I used to have them daily. They are not as severe when on the prednisone but still come daily at times or at least a couple of times a week. I was taking hydrocodone that help if it gets too bad. I have the muscle cramps that are terrible. I get them all over back, legs, chest area, hands pretty much everywhere. What do you take for that? I haven't had my potassium levels taken lately. That could be it. What exactly is restless leg syndrome? I have been thinking about that lately because my legs seem to hurt. I saw the commercial but don't know much about that. take care all, Shauna in Atl

Hello, My potassium levels are perfectly fine at the moment. I am trying a calcium/magnesium supplement for a few days and see if that helps. I was just wondering if it was a sarcoid problem or something else. Shauna Glaspie wrote: Hi group. This is Shauna in Atlanta. I know what you are talking about with the headaches. Thank you for all the info. i have just started on calcium/magnesium supplements so hopefully that will help. I do drink a lot of water as i also exercise every day. Do you mean what tests in general have i had done or what tests for the muscle cramps?tiodaat@... wrote: Hi ,You asked about muscle cramps and headaches. this is a common problem, and much of it has to do with blood

sugar and hydration. Have you had to take prednisone? Do you have problems with hypercaluria or hypercalcemia. (High levels of calcium in the urine.) One of the things I've noticed is that when I was on pred, it was leaching the calcium from my bones and muscles-- and the subsequent pain was horrible. I've found that even with this disease, it was still important to take an occasional calcium/magnesium tablet or two-- so that my muscles could relax. Also, any amount of dehydration-- and coffee, sodas, alcohol all add to dehydration-- that my pain again went thru the roof. With the chronic inflammation and generally low grade fevers we run on a constant basis, it's easy to become slightly (or this time of year) very dehydrated. Since the myelin sheath that covers all our muscles and nerves and ligaments--requires water to float-- again, if you've not got enough fluid in your system- then the

pain goes up. Other irritants are sugars (sweets, dairy products, processed foods with High Fructose Corn Syrup) put us into hell very quickly. The dairy products take the lactose and turn it into lactic acid--which irritates the joints and ligaments. You might want to try to cut out the dairy, and use Rice Dream or Soymilk instead. I find the Vanilla flavored ones to be good. One of the life savers for me (and my sarc is systemic) is MSM Powder. The address is in the LINKS-- I believe it's PUREMSM.COM. One tablespoon with a quarter cup of water, and 10 min later-- the muscle and bone pain are gone. The headaches can be do to the sarcoidosis and the vasculitis that it can cause in our brains. It can also be stress, or a sign of pinched nerves in your back or neck. What tests, etc have you had done?Let us know-- how we can help. and welcome to the gang,Sincerely,Tracie NS
