Guest guest
I know Elaine didn't want anyone on supplements, ever, but I'm 60 years older than her daughter was and I cannot give up essentials for things like osteoporosis and hot flashes. So, I may be a little bad but hope an improving gut will let me take fewer things later. Anyhow, with an order of supplements received yesterday, I got a little booklet from Doctor's Best brand. Of course it has all their products listed and at the back, I thought this was interesting on page 68, Volume 1004A: " What do Doctor's Best products NOT contain? No Milk, egg, wheat, corn, sugar, sweeteners, starch, salt or preservatives. Because only natural products are used, taste color and odor may vary. NOTE: All of the ingredients in Doctor's Best are clearly disclosed. You can be confident that what is indicated on the label is actually in the product... and nothing else. " Anyhow, this being in writing, I thought I'd let everyone know. I am not familiar with this brand but it does sound OK if they state this so clearly. No, that's not correct. Elaine felt that, at the beginning, one should cut out supplements and then add back legal ones as needed. She never said that one shouldn't take them. BTVC is terribly radical from the standpoint of most doctors. Having macro-supplements included would have made it even more radical. Each of us has to find the balance of what works for US. I use a number of supplements which aren't in BTVC. I just try to make sure there aren't illegals in them. (I've 57, and had gone through menopause with no hitches. After my cancer surgery, I hit hot flashes and cold flashes and ghu-knows-what with a vengeance beyond belief. Apparently, my ovaries were still putting out some hormones even after menopause.) — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

I wasn't actually able to cut them all out during intro though I did what I could, and I guess I just remembered " no " . Now I don't have to feel guilty. I guess it's time to re-read BTVC, it's been a couple of months.

I think I find something new every time I do re-read it. <g> I've gotten caught mis-remembering something Elaine said, myself, and thus must follow my own advice! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
