Guest guest
or anyone else who can relate, Have you ever found that IV D10 helped you recover from metabolic decompensation? For 3 full nights now, I litterly have slept NONE! My neurological function is not great at this point. My heart is racing out of control if I even just stand up. I know it's all steming from my brain bein over worked. Not sleeping is killing me. My whole body is malfunctioning. My kidneys are working over time and my metabolism is in over drive. My NP has prescribed Sonata for sleep.I am so leary about meds. Most meds have adverse reactions on me. I am so afraid that I will not sleep again tonight. I am going to the ER now to get some IV D10. My NP called my metabolic dr and he ordered labs and D10 to begin with. I am afaid I've had another stroke episode. Guest guest
Hi Krystena, I am sorry to hear about the rough time you have been having lately. I am sure you are exhausted. On a daily basis I get about 600 ml's of D5W (Dextrose, 5%), with half normal saline and IV Carnitor (I have a carnitine deficiency) through my central line. However, when I feel worse than usual, have an infection, or am crashing, my doctors change the D5 to D10. My doctors also increase the amount of fluids I am getting from 600 ml's to up to 3 liters a day, depending on how I am feeling. I found that it helps me a lot when I am not feeling good. It seems to give my body the extra energy it needs to get through the rough spots. Mito is an energy crisis disease, and so the artifical energy (D10) seems to get the body the energy it needs to go on. Once I am feeling my usual self again, I switch back to the D5. Of course, things are different for everyone, and mito affects all of us in different ways. I really hope the D10 can give you some relief and some energy to get through this crisis. My thoughts are with you that you can get through this and feel yourself once more.
