Guest guest
Hi, my name is Marita. I will be having the surgery in 3 days (Oct. 12). My feelings are all over the board, I'm anxcious, scared, nervous, happy,,,,,,,,I'm sure this is all the usual feelings, but WOW, sometimes I feel like I could jump out of my skin. I am treating myself to a message tomorrow, so I'm sure that will relax me. I have read many of the messages posted and have found this site to be quite enlightening, thanks to all. Are there any pieces of advice that anyone would like to share. Thanks, Marita
Guest guest
Marita, Hi....I just had my surgery on 9/28 and I had the same exact feelings. Even all the way up to about a half hour before they wheeled me into the operating room. I was laying in bed with the 2 IV's and I was still second guessing myself. I now am glad that I went thru it. It took me 13 months to get there....Just know what the end results will be.....you will be healthier and have more energy. It is weird...I feel hungry, at times, but when I do eat, I can't eat that much. I really don't feel hungry most of the time. I am only 11 days out and can already tell that I have lost weight. I started out at 244.5 and now weigh 227. Good luck on your big day.....I will be thinking of you.... Pattyone800q2 wrote: Hi, my name is Marita. I will be having the surgery in 3 days (Oct. 12). Guest guest
Marita, First and foremost congratulations on your surgery. I felt every emotion you are going through, I have just had surgery on 10/3. I would say even though you might be scared now know that you have made a good decision and you have researched this any feelings you have right now are pure emotion. Stay confident and I will keep you in my prayers. Guest guest
Hi Marita, I too am one of the newbies of the group and had my surgery on 9/27/05, 13 days ago. I can completely understand those feelings of fear and confusion, but Ill tell you the same thing Robynn told me, the joy you feel afterwards makes the pain all worth it. I went in the day of my surgery weighing 468lbs, and last Friday weighed in at 420lbs., and so far everything has been more than worth it. My prayers will be with you on Wednesday. Good luck!!one800q2 wrote: Hi, my name is Marita. I will be having the surgery in 3 days (Oct. 12). Guest guest
, thanks for the support. Wow, you sound like you are doing great. I am feeling much better today, I went to the gym and had a real good workout, which helped with some of the anxiety. Keep up the good work. > Hi, my name is Marita. Guest guest
Marita, You'll be so happy when your on the other side. I'm 6 months post op, I've made my goal and I'm a very happy lady now. Keep up the good work, every one goes through lots of emotions about this until you get to the other side and right after you go through some, then it only gets better. Guest guest
Hi I had my surgery last Monday 10/5 in ssf. I was nervous the week before surgery but on surgery day I was so excited. I went home 24hrs after surgery. I feel great today. Yesterday I got up, did my hair and makeup, made my kids their lunches. I had energy and felt great. I am hungry! I have been mixing my cream of wheat w/ my cream of chicken soup. That fills me up. Tomorrow I go back to ssf to get my staples removed. I can't wait to weigh in. -Deb :-) -- In gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients , Donna Jordon wrote: > > Kristie, > I eat protein, protein, protein. I don't use protein shakes like many, food keeps me full. I eat still meals 4 hours apart, no drink when eating, stopping 10 minutes before and not drinking until 1 hour later. I eat 4ozs for breakfast, lunch and dinner, if I crave any thing in between I have broth, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles or diet snapple which can be counted as water intake, but it's still good to get real water. With this I write down every thing and what there calories are and add as I go and don't go over 1000 calories a day. I'm now at 143 and working to get to 135 where I will stop. As time passes so does the fast weight lose, so watching every thing you do is so important and get as much weight off in the first 6 months as possible and continue as long as you possibly can, I hear after 1 year it's much harder. That's why I've pushed so damn hard and it has worked. Guest guest
Good for you but don't overdo it! I remember feeling exactly like you did at one week out...couldn't believe the unbelievable energy, etc. that I had. If you aren't careful, it'll kick you in the butt though and you'll be dog tired again. Just take it really easy and remember that you had MAJOR surgery just a week ago. Good luck with the weigh in. I'm sure you'll do great! Tina > > > > Hi, my name is Marita. I will be having the surgery in 3 days > (Oct. > > > > 12). Guest guest
Hi Deb, did you have it on Monday 10/3 or Wednesday 10/5 ? I was on Monday also. We will have to keep in touch on our progress. I have lost 11 lbs. as of right now. Are you hungry physically or mentally? I have to say the family had made tacos the other night and they smelled so good. And then today we got the kids some Mc's and it smelled so good. I was not physically hungry but mentally I wanted to taste it. I am ready for an egg. That sounds so exciting. But, for now I will stick to what I am allowed, let my new pouch heal, and enjoy the honeymoon of the weight loss. HOw are your liquids going down. Mine are starting to not hurt SO EXCITED about that. Take care, Kristie > > Date: 2005/10/11 Tue PM 03:11:06 PDT > To: gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients > Subject: Re: Hello Everyone! > > Hi I had my surgery last Monday 10/5 in ssf. Guest guest
Today I didnt do my neighborhood walking and instead went to Mervyn's. I used one of the children's strollers to walk with just for support. I did have to rest at the Home Dept. and sit on the bed for awhile. This has been my biggest outing. Also, today I went and picked up my kids from practice. I have not drove yet though, because I have a stickshift and I am afraid do to the open surgery. I am feeling alot better but hubby won't let me overdo it because he said I will heal much better if I take it easy. Guest guest
Kristie- good for you on your outing ! good not to drive for a bit especially with the stick shift,i only had open but one day before my staples came out no one was home i was cold and lifted a heavy log for the woodstove and it pulled on the staple which really hurt and i have a little more scarring in that area than i do my others. Listen to your husband and all that love and care for you, it helps in the healing ! Colleenhollotwomn@... wrote: Today I didnt do my neighborhood walking and instead went to Mervyn's.
