Guest guest
Hi Bill: Yes- my son had ear surgery and his adenoids out right before he turned 4. He would not wake up. He finally woke up about 1 pm the next day.... weird and very scary. Ever since, we have the anesthesiologist use only non-triggering agents. Guest guest
Bill, Unfortunately it is not uncommon for Mito people to have problems with General Anesthesia. Do you know if they took the Mito precautions with the anesthesia that DR Cohen recommends? I know I always do better if these are taken. You guys are in my thoughts tonight! And by the way, Good Daddy for trying to learn what is going on with your child. Your wife will need your understanding and support as you travel the Mito Road. It will be important that you know as much as she does about your sons needs for his illness. I am so glad to see that you have taken the first step. Give them my best! HUGS! Guest guest
Bill & Jennie, my daughter always has this problem when she goes under general anesthesia. It always freaks the nurses out, but she usually bounces back after 12 to 24 hrs. She only stays inpatient if the anestesia was for surgery (except ear tube placement). Chelsea is 100% tube fed, and has an excellent ped, so I think that is why she is sent home before she is fully awake. They do at least like to see her rouse a bit, but that is easier said than done. My feeling is if her vitals are stable and she is not need ing O2, then she is probably fine. Other than the excessive grogginess, she tolerates anethesia farily well. e, Chelsea's mom(nonspecific mito)
