Guest guest
Hello everyone, My cousin's daughter has had Crohn's since she was 10. She is now 22. She just had a colonoscopy today and was told she needs to have a colostomy. I have been telling her about the diet, and now she wants to start it. She is coming to my house in about 45 min. I can help her with the diet, as my husband has been on it for 2 months. My husband's situation is not as severe, so he has been pretty much sailing through the pecan bread phases. Is there any hope for her? Has anyone been in this situation, and the diet has helped? What about LDN? I will try to get her to get on this group. You are the most helpful group of people out there in yahoo land! Thank you!
Guest guest
, There is always hope and the best thing she could do is to start scd. There is supposedly " no Cure " for crohns but my husbands in remission and off all meds after about one year of the diet. We are trying LDN over xmas to boost his system and we hope he will never have to back to the troubles we have had but I know everyone is different and surgery is sometimes unavoidable. She has nothing to loose by trying it and everything to gain, but it will be a slow and steady race that will get her there. Good luck to you both, Merry Christmas jena husband crohns 12 mths, scd 12 mths med free Hello everyone, My cousin's daughter has had Crohn's since she was 10. She is now 22. Guest guest
Is there any hope for her?I think with the SCD there's always hope! I'm not sure how badly she needs the surgery, but whether she gets it or not, the SCD would definitely help. I would say get her on the diet ASAP and then just go from there. I know others on here have healed themselves from very serious illness with this diet, and I'm guessing they will chime in at some point and tell you of their experiences. Guest guest
Absolutely, there's hope. And, yes, take LDN with the diet. Having a colostomy is pretty darn serious, and not exactly reversible. And then she'd have to deal with the bag for the rest of her life. If it were me I certainly wouldn't allow them to do surgery until I had tried the diet and LDN for quite a while. The chance is VERY HIGH that that combination will help her a great deal. n > Hello everyone, > My cousin's daughter has had Crohn's since she was 10. Guest guest
I think it is highly possible/probable though if she is that ill, she may need something more powerful than LDN to begin. LDN is great - but it takes a while to build the effect - you notice some effect right away, but it really takes several months/up until 6 months to build full efficiency. And there's a period around the end of the first month when your T Cells are switching receptors - or something like that - it's too late at night to look it up precisely (well I did try and look it up but can't find the exact wording). Even Dr. Bihari mentioned letting his cancer patients finish up their therapy on something like chemo, I believe he said (which also lowers the entire immune system) and then continuing them on LDN. Guest guest
What are the plans for surgery? Is it imminent, or does she have time? Maybe the best thing for her to do immediately is go on the intro diet for 5 days and then progress slowly. If nothing else, she will feel better, and if surgery is not imminent, it may buy her time. Is she on medication? She should continue that and start SCD. PJ > > >> Hello everyone, > > >> My cousin's daughter has had Crohn's since she was 10. Not everyone has to waits weeks or months to see effects. Not my any means. Another possibility would be colloidal silver, which is effective for an astonishing number of ailments, and works on bacteria, viruses and fungi. It has similar effects to LDN (though works on a different principle) in that it boosts the immune system. You'd have to get it from a good company because it's made via different means, some of which are better than others). n > > >> >> Hello everyone, >> >> My cousin's daughter has had Crohn's since she was 10. Guest guest
Surgery must not be imminent, as they want to send her to Chicago for a second opinion (or my cousin wants her to go there, not sure which). I gave her some soup, DCCC, yogurt, chicken, and a yogurt maker to get started. For those who are so inclined, if you could pray that she can adhere to this. Guest guest
, In the book Breaking The Vicious Cycle, by Elaine Gottshall, on the first page, Elaine recounts the story of her eight year old daughter who had ulcerative colitis and whose condition was deteriorating. Surgery was imminent. As a last effort she visited Dr. Haas, author of Management of Celiac Disease and he put her daughter on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Within two years she was free of symptoms. She is now past 60 and still has her colon. This was the beginning of Elaine's determination to spread the word. That's the short version of how this list started. I agree with others who said there is always hope. Phyllis

Guest guest
Great News, Stick with SCD and you will see results. I have been on SCD for nearly 5 months and overall progress has been steady, a little slow at times but in the last two weeks I have been feeling really well with minimal symptoms and have even put back on a few pounds. I am mentally prepared that it could be at least two years before I am symptom free so I consider feeling as well as I do after 5 months a bonus! Merry Christmas to everyone and a Happy Healthy New Year!
