Guest guest
Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone had this test done on them before? I had a MRI that showed my colon was malpositioned (located more towards the left) and now my GI doctors want to have this small bowel series done on me to see if I have malrotation ("the ligament of the Treitz is in an abnormal position and much of the small bowel is on the right"). Anyways I have felt good on this diet and do not want to mess up my healing by drinking the ILLEGAL barium I have to while they take pictures of my intestines. What have some of you guys done to clear your intestines from this barium after tests like these? Thanks. -JJD UC
Guest guest
I wonder if cilantro would help since I think I read that it has a chelating effect. Does anyone know? I think it's good in chicken soup. But, then, I HATE barium and the way it makes me feel. n -- Now available. Guest guest
I had a couple CT scans done over the summer. The barium itself didn't affect me at all. The stuff that they mixed into it so that I could swallow the stuff did (the first was scd illegal, the second was legal). Talk to them about it before hand and see if you can bring in your own juice to mix with it. Tell them that you have bad food allergies (I gave up on saying " diet " a while ago so they take me more seriously) and need to be very careful about what you ingest. The first place was not all that helpful but the second place (ha...the ER) was very understanding and accommodating. I think the first was partly my fault anyway. I thought I was JUST drinking barium so I didn't call ahead of time otherwise I could have brought something of my own.
