Guest guest
Hi, Many of us have joint and muscle pain. It's not at all uncommon. Sarcoidosis induced arthritis is a problem, and many times our ESR rates are fine, but the pain is there. It is also very possible to have Rheumatoid Arthritis, OsteoArthritis, along with your sarcoidosis. How high is your ACE levels and/or CRP levels? These are systemic inflammation markers and are often elevated with sarcoidosis. After having done years of prednisone to bring down the pain and inflammation without much success--and ending up with systemic multi-system sarcoidosis; I ended up on first, Imuran, then Arava, then finally on Methotrexate and Plaquenil. That worked well for the pulmonary sarcoidosis, along with the iritis, but it didn't touch the joint, muscle, ligament pain. I was able to add Remicade over a year ago, and for me, it has worked wonderfully. The spinal pain, the inside the bone pain, and the muscle pain has decreased tremendously. I am having to increase my dose to 7mg/kg with infusions every 28 days-- which I hope will stop the lymphnodes and mental confusion that comes back after about day 22. I don't want to get infusions any closer together that once every 28 days-- but I'm willing to see if this increase will help. The other thing that has helped me tremendously-- is MSM powder. I use 1 tbsp in 1/4 cup of water on those days when my pain seems to be higher, and it brings it right back down. The site that I order from is PUREMSM. Also, if you've been on prednisone for a long time, it leaches the calcium from your bones, and muscles, so unless you've got hypercalcemia or hypercaluria-- you might want to supplement. Hope this helps, Tracie NS CO-owner/moderator
Guest guest
Marla, I am so glad the MSM is helping you. It has been a godsend for me. It truly makes me wonder how much of what we are dealing with is nutrition/vitamin/mineral defiencies. Take care, and know we're all glad you are back! Love to you, Tracie
Guest guest
OK I am really behind in emails once again, but I just wanted to let you know that the MSM that Tracie talks about has so far been the best treatment for my joint pain, and I can tell when I forget to take it. Hope this helps, Marla From: Neurosarcoidosis [mailto:Neurosarcoidosis ] On Behalf Of Eliza Perkins Sent: Thursday, December 21, 2006 11:34 PM To: Neurosarcoidosis Subject: Joint Pains Will anybody who has joint pains please send me an e-mail sayingthat you do and tell me what is being done about it.Also, if you don't mind any of you who have jerking movements.
