Guest guest
Some places let you return the nasty stuff if it's more than 1/2 full for full credit. The vitamin shoppe does. Have you tried the liquid ISOPURE? It comes in a 20 ounce glass bottle and is about $3.00 and change. Make sure it is ISOPURE ZERO and not ISOPURE ENDURANCE!!!!!! (Loads of sugar in that one!!!!) It is pretty good and comes in about eight or so flavors. Since it is a liquid and not a meal it's a nice change from water. Also, vitalady has over 90 different samples available for $1.99 each. Some of the best for Randy were strawberry white chocolate, lemon cheesecake, cool choc mint, choco peanut butter cup, banana scream, orange cream (like a 50/50 bar!!!!) and most chocolates! Her site details the protien, calories, sugars it's a neat deal!!!! Also (all other readers cover your eyes!!!!) Try a little tiny slice of banana or frozen berries, or applesauce in your shake, it seems to thicken it. also try a little bit of low fat or non fat milk in place of water. Now, DON " T GO OVERBOARD!!!! I mean like 1 ounce of milk to 7 ounces water, and 1 inch or less of banana, or a teaspoon of frozen berries from a place like trader joes.(very low sugar!!!!!) read the label!!!! I don't know what your dietary rules were, everywhere was different!!!! Randy was at UCLA and it was 1000 calories and as close to 100 grams of protien as possible. So if having 10-20 calories worth of fruit and milk makes it go down and stay there, what's the biggie!!!!?? Especially if you are having trouble getting three meals in anyway. Once they are able to stay down, try to ease off of the added stuff a little at a time. Right now, Randy uses no milk and just a bit of fruit to certain shakes that need a little help. But remember the cardinal rule....ISOPURE POWDER IS NASTY!!!! STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM IT!!!!! Also, be good to yourself, this may seem pricy, but the 20 ounce bottle of ISOPURE is cheaper that a Starbucks, or a kids meal from Mc 's.... keep things in perspective, $1.99 for a shake is cheaper than a shake from Burger King. It's nutritional, so let it be good too!!!! Having WLS should not be punishment, trigger foods are scary, stay away from them! But the stuff you need should be enjoyable. Also, this board hates the words (Magic Bullet) but its easy to use,we got ours at target. and one last trick, I bought a package of tiny cheap tupperware like containers, about 3 ounce size. and we mixed 1/2 of two different packs from the vitalady samples to make our own flavors, like strawberry & vanilla. Oh yeah, I promise this is the last tip tonight, we started out using 1/2 of vitalady samples at a time because it was so easy to split the sample in half using the tiny containers for storage for the other half. this way Randy had four to five small shakes a day instead of 2 or 3 big ones that you have to drink in 1/2 hour or they go rotten. and he could have 5 different flavors a day!!!! I wish I was close enough to boogie over and help you, we have samples from her right now, and Randy loves the isopure so much (it's easy!!) We are not using too many right now. Be good sweet neighbor!!!! I hope this helped!!!! Your desert neighbor, Sue
