Guest guest
Joanna, It would help if you posted your symptoms and what you are doing for them. I got a weird rash a few weeks into SCD which I thought was die off. A red cheek rash could be " 5th disease " , a viral illness, which may be why you are flaring. It is not a problem, except to pregnant women. PJ > > Hey all! > I started my 3 month flare about 10.5 weeks into the diet. Right away I got a cheek rash (that I still have!) It's been almost 3 weeks and I am getting worried that I won't recover. Has anyone flared for this long? I haven't changed anything and am really getting discouraged. > Any advice would be appreciated... > Thanks! > -Joanna > SCD 13.5 weeks, CD 1992 >
Guest guest
Joanna, My 3 month flare lasted about 5 weeks and it was definitely not fun. The good thing about it being such a pain, was that I could tell when it was over. With every flare, I try to think of it as a real battle between the good bugs and the bad bugs, and that when I'm better, the good bugs have lived to win another day ! Guest guest
To Sue and PJ-- Thank you so much for your replies!!! Sue, you have no idea how comforting it was to read about your experience. I could see mine lasting that long, but now I won't get discouraged! It's so easy to feel like you are doing something wrong and to lose hope. Now I know I just need to fight this battle until I win... PJ- in addition to the cheek rash (which is slooowly getting better and I am not pregnant), my symptoms are very much in line with a regular Crohn's flare: much more diarrhea, increased bleeding, cramping, and pain The good news is that before the flare, the diet was slowly alleviating these symptoms. So I will keep my chin up and keep trucking. I hope to be able to post a great message in a few weeks that I came out of this on top! Happy Holidays Every One!!!! -Joanna > > Joanna, > > My 3 month flare lasted about 5 weeks and it was definitely not fun.
