Yesterday I went to my orientation at SSF and they said that I was

going to be given an amount by Dr. Stiles insted of a 10 % amount.

Does anyone know what the anount of weight that needs to be lost is,

or is it all different for each person? About how long is the process

for people out of SSF?

I am trying to drink more water and stick to the 1200 calorie meal

plan.

This is not easy (sigh)...

Hi Maridiana, I also went through SSF, I had Dr. Umbach. I just had my surgery

10/12. Dr. Stiles will set an amount in pounds that you will need to lose.

Mine was 7 lbs. which I lost 11. It's all on an individual basis how many

pounds they require. My orientation was in May 05' and as I said surgery was

just last week. I'm doing great, I'm doing everything by the book. I just

can't wait to get the staples out, they are starting to itch, that should be on

the 25th. Keep me posted on your progress and If I can be of any help don't

hesitate to ask anyone on this site. They have been great for me.

Hi

I started June 28th in SSF. When I met w/ Dr. Stiles in August she

never gave me a # of pounds to loose. I had lost 10 pounds when I

met w/ her. Dr. Stiles asked if I wanted my surgery in

October .... Boy did that hit me by surprise ... I was not

expecting that ... Oct 3rd I had my surgery and I went home the

next day. I am doing just fine.

I just followed the 1200 calorie diet. My 1st week was horrible.

Just remember to weigh and measure your food. What I thought was a

Tbsp was too small till I actually measured my food. What saved me

is that I love toast. I would measure out 2T of LIGHT cream cheese

(fat) and 4 tsp of jelly (fruit). Then I mixed the two together and

spread it on my toast. Simple, yummie and satisfing.

It is not easy ... if you have a mind set to do it the weight comes

off. I also walked on the tread mill 5 days a week. I would walk

for 40 minutes. That is about 1.40 miles. I now do 2 miles in

about 50 minutes.

I was 300 pounds June 28th at orientation, 266 surgery day 10/3,

today I am 251.

Good luck. E-mail if you have any questions or if you need help.

Thank you so much for clearing this up. I kept hearing 10% and automatically thought that is what it was going to be. May I ask how much you weighed at orientation and how much you have lost?

By the way congratulations on your surgery and I really look forward to hearing more and more about your progress. I am sure it is an exciting time for you.

I am trying so hard and determined to lose the weight so that I can be healthy when I am ready for surgery. It was really hard to go to the grocery store and pass up all the things that I will no longer have. But I know that it is worth it!

Thank you,

Maridiana

Thank you and congratulations on your suregery and weight loss.

Yesterday I went out and bought a scale and measuring spoons to make sure that I am eating what I am supposed to. I like the idea of the cream cheese, jelly and toast. I also joined the gym (through my job we get a discount) and I am going to start walking and riding the bike. at least 4-5 times a week. I am now making sure that I drink plenty of water and stocked up on the diet snapple and crystal light. I also started taking my vitamins in order to get myself used to (mentally) taking hem everyday as well as my body.

Again thatnk you for your help and suggestions. They are great!
