What the MDA Provides Durable Medical Equipment: When prescribed by a local MDA physician, MDA Pays up to $2000 toward purchase of wheelchairs and leg braces every 3 years for individuals up to 18 and every 5 years for individuals over 18. The MDA pays up to $500 yearly for repair of wheelchairs or leg braces normally authorized by MDA Payment. This includes batteries and other needs for power mobility equipment. When prescribed by a local MDA physician, the MDA pays up to $2000 for purchase of communications devices normally authorized for MDA payment. In All Cases - When equipment is to be ordered - advise the vendor to contact the MDA for a purchase order prior to equipment being ordered. The MDA maintains a Loan Closet of durable medical equipment for loan to those registered with the MDA when equipment is medically prescribed in relation to an individual's neurological disease. Support Groups: Check with your local MDA Office Education: Yearly conferences Information and referral services Clinics: Check with your local clinic Health Care Services Coordinator. If you are unsure of how to find your clinc - go to http://www.mdausa.com and click on find a clinic. Medical appointments are scheduled by this individual after you are registered with the MDA. This applies to pediatric and adult.
