Guest guest
Dear Elle, Your auth came in one day, that is wonderful! Your day will be here in no time! Yahoo and hip hip hooray!!!!!!! a BMI 36 Pre-op Surgery Date and Approval in 1 day!!!!! I don't post often on this list, but I did want to tell everyone that I have gotten my~~~~~~~~Surgery Date and Authorization~~~~~~~~The auth came in less that one day! Amber, from Dr. s office faxed my information to the nurse, ,at United Health Care at 5PM. I called UHC at 9:30 the next morning and got s voice mail, left a messagetelling him the fax was waiting for him and if he had any questions yada, yada,yada....he was on the phone to AMberverifying coverage and giving auth! Yoooopeeee .Amber had warned me, the night before, to be prepared for a battle because of my fairly low BMI (~~only~~37~~).But I have sufficient comorbs to make it a non issue. My surgery date is July 30 and I will be having a lap/DS at Good Sam Hospital in Portland OR.Dr. Emma is a new to private practice surgeon, who studied under Dr. Gagner. She has done about 25Lap/DS in her fellowship and, so far, only 1 in private practice. There are 2 more coming up (that I know of) beforemy surgery.Dr. P likes to to the band (shes in a study of it) and prefers the R-n-Y for gastric bypass surgery. I had studied theinformation on this and similar lists and decided I wanted the DS.For me it's a real no brainer. So now I am on the pre surgery diet Dr. P gives her patients and counting down the days. Usually summer is tooshort for me. This July will be too long!I had thought my surgery wouldn't be till August or Sept, the way things were going so I had a unit of mushroomcompost dumped in my driveway and had prepared to build a new raised bed garden over the summer...now Ihave 6 weeks to move that unit of dirt. So I guess I'll be getting the exercise she wants. Maybe not in 30 minutesof walking, but in 30 minute increments of hauling dirt up and down hill. I have chronic back pain so I do things insmall steps, usually limiting myself to 30 minutes of physical activity with a 30 min hiatus....with chronic pain it hurtsno matter what I am doing so I haven't let it stop me from doing the things I enjoy.Looking forward to being switched..anyone else out there with the same date?????elle in oregon - officially PreOp 7/30/01 - Lap/DSBMI37, 255#, 5'9", 58 YO, uncontrolled hypertension, insulin using type II diabetes, high cholesterol and sleepapnea.----------------------------------------------------------------------
