Guest guest
Hi tammy, I know this wasn't directed to me and I may have already mentioned this, but I have a primary immune deficiency that is considered an "antibody deficiency". That means that I have normal levels of IgG (all subclasses) but I don't make a good response to the vaccines, particularly the pneumovax, and am thus much more vulnerable to any types of bacteria that are polysaccharide-coated (like the pneumoccocal). I take subq gamma and it has made my life so much better. My older son also has a pid and his includes a low IgG2 subclass, but so far he's not needed IVIG. If you don't know already (and you may well know), there is a website much like the UMDF but are for primary immune deficiencies - look up Primary Immune Deficiency and I think youll find it. If you don't, e-mail me back and I'll find it. There is also a whole parents group (like our mito group) on line where I think you all with immune deficiencies also might find valuable sources of info. Hope that helps and is not too redundant! Anne R - mom to Asher ( 3 1/2 - mito, complex III defect, possible complex I defect) and to Sam (IgG2 deficiency, IgA deficiency)
