Guest guest
I posted a while ago about how I wasn't anemic anymore, but then someone on here said it might not be accurate because I was sick when I got my blood drawn. Well, I got my bloodwork done again and I'm still not anemic! I still haven't been eating red meat, liver, iron pills, or cooking in an iron skillet, but I've been doing green smoothies every day, so I know that's what did it. Peace =) Alyssa 15 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008 SCD June 2009 (restarted) No meds!

Guest guest
Yay!! That's great. I'm also feeling much better after last week's episode. Here's to a healthy 2010 for all of us PJ > > I posted a while ago about how I wasn't anemic anymore, but then > someone on here said it might not be accurate because I was sick when > I got my blood drawn. Guest guest
Hi, Alyssa. I'm glad you're better! What recipes do you use? I want to try it, too! I'm not anemic right now, but I don't want to get back to that point again. Thanks! To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sun, December 27, 2009 12:02:08 PMSubject: Re: Re: No more Anemia! Good to hear. I'm not anemic right now, but I don't want to get back to that point again.I do a banana, some frozen strawberries, water, about 1/2 or 3/4 a cup of SCD yogurt, about 1/2 or one tbsp of coconut oil, and a few big handfuls of baby spinach, or a few leaves of swiss chard, or a few leaves of kale, or any combination of the three. Frozen blueberries also work for fruit, as do peaches, mango, pineapple, or pretty much anything you tolerate! I would say that the three greens I mentioned are the best smoothie greens we've found though. Oh, and dandelion greens aren't bad. Romaine lettuce isn't very good though. Guest guest
Cool, PJ. Are the spinach, kale and chard in smoothie that Alyssa mentioned a bit advanced foods (Stage 4?)? I am in Stage 2.... I guess I have to wait > > > > I posted a while ago about how I wasn't anemic anymore, but then > > someone on here said it might not be accurate because I was sick when > > I got my blood drawn. I guess I have to wait :(Yes, but everyone's different. I've had no problem tolerating them, and I'm not very advanced at all. I don't eat salads, or raw foods, or anything like that, except for what's in my smoothie. Even though it's raw, it's easy for me to digest since it's so well blended. Guest guest
I haven't tried them yet, but Alyssa has been on SCD as long as I have. I would at least wait a while. I don't know when Alyssa tolerated them.
